Flying out at 0600.
Single-gate, two flights per day airport that boards from a ramp on the tarmac.

Precheck is literally just a card they give you.

We'll see if I get the card.

I love those who are critical of this going from:

"What a joke, I will now have to go through normal TSA with all of the underlings of society and it may take longer for me to get to my flight."

to

"What a joke, this administration has no idea what it is doing."

This metamorphosis of thought has people now upset that the administration fixed what they were complaining about, and yet they are still complaining.

Thank you Trump. This is a political move as shown by the fact this is the first time it has ever been done including during the shutdown last year. Somehow he thinks this will make the Dems look bad but this will be pinned on the Republicans because there is absolutely no reason they have to do this.

24 people put stars on this nonsense? There is always a high rate of absenteeism in TSA during shutdowns when they aren't getting paid. This is all due to leftists wanting to doxx ICE Agents and their families.

High TSA absenteeism during shutdowns

Quote:

During the 35-day government shutdown in 20182019 -- TSA reported increased absenteeism among officers. Some airports experienced longer security lines as a result.
The longest government shutdown lasted 43 days, beginning on Oct.1, 2025, and ending on Nov. 12, 2025. In past shutdowns, Airlines for America, the trade group representing major U.S. airlines, warned that even short funding lapses can disrupt air travel and hurt the broader economy.
Industry experts say financial strain on unpaid federal workers can lead to higher rates of unscheduled absences, particularly if the shutdown stretches beyond a few weeks.

And yet they magically didn't shutdown precheck during the last shutdown. Why? Because as others have pointed it out, it is more efficient. This one was announced because the administration thinks it is the only way to raise the issue to average Americans but I think this is a big political mistake just like Obama shutting off access to the national parks and monuments.

Why are they already reversing course since the situation around your argument hasn't changed?

As usual, you don't know what you are blathering about. There is already high absenteeism in TSA and Customs with flu and other winter maladies, and it will get nothing but worse. Add in those who aren't showing up due to the shutdown, and sure, open up pre-check, but it won't be the time saver it usually is. This shutdown is purely about doxxing ICE and slowing them down, and there is ZERO legitimate reason for it. Whatever feeds your TDS……..

Nope, this is totally on your side who are demanding so many restrictions on ICE that they would not be able to operate.

You libs are more interested in protecting illegals than citizens of this country.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. Shutting down Global Entry is even dumber; the entire process is nearly automated. The two times we flew into the US from an international destination, I think I showed something to someone once (coming back from Europe, because we came through Canada). When we came back from Mexico, I don't think I even showed anything to anyone. There was one person there just to look at images being taken by the kiosk. If your goal is to save money during this particular shutdown, closing Global Entry is the dumbest thing to do.

Flew out of Atlanta early this morning. It was still before the announcement of the reversal. I asked the agent doing touchless ID and she said that the local TSA manager said they'd have the staff available and Atlanta would only suspend precheck if staff was short. Seems even DHS can't get their own employees to follow asinine, stupid, no excuse directives.

Shutting down Global Entry and Precheck is a political play by Trump. This doesn't have to be done. Will it work? I'm doubtful because most of the people that this is going to affect are already republican voters.
But one should never underestimate what Trump can do!

I doubt Trump has anything to do with this.

They do as instructed. Trump decides that was either enough or too much, and tells them to dial it back.

TDS Brigade - Trump's team is incompetent! Botox rotted her brain and her jeans cutoff blood flow! They cannot get anything right and 10 supervisors drove to work nervous that they would be yelled at over closed precheck so it's a massive failure!

There's still a line at the pre-check, and the TSA guy sitting at the pre-check is processing just as many as the TSA agents in the regular line. Actually, probably more since the people in pre-check have literally been pre-checked and deemed to be a lower security risk deserving less scrutiny. So, I don't think this does anything for efficiency.

In my mind it's all for appearances. If they have to reduce the number of agents, then the regular queue is going to be much longer, and shifting the pre-check guy over to that queue will make is not quite as long. So, a better "look". But it's stupid - the people in the regular line would be pissed because the line is long and the people who would have been in pre-check would be they are in a long line after paying their money to avoid it.
