Except that's not the case here. They have discretion on how they move around the funds they do have. They didn't do this during the last shutdown which was much longer. This is a deliberate effort to inflict pain because they believe the blame will be pinned on the Dems. I suspect it will backfire instead. And the super-dumb thing about it is most of the people who pay for PreCheck and Global Entry are going to be Trump supporters. He's hurting his own folks instead of sticking it to the Dems.

This is similar to when Obama closed the national parks during a previous showdown with Republicans. He thought it would be a political winner for him, and he was wrong. Same thing here for Trump.

The fundamental issue here is the Dems are trying to restrict ICE in order to protect illegals. Trump needs to make that the issue -- very publicly -- and put pressure on them to end this stupid Dem shutdown.

I've read a lot of stupid posts on twxags but this might take the cake.

1. Jeffries etal are trying to butt into an executive power of immigration enforcement through purse strings.
2. Despite ice already being fully funded, they released a hostage demand letter that is completely unserious and practically a love letter to their far elft base
3. This administration is having to deal with a problem created created thriugh decades of immigration mismanagement, made especially worse by the previous 4 year

There is no world in which trump is to blame for tsa precheck lines being temporarily shuttered. This is a patently obvious democrat led cessation of funding for dhs.

The Trump administration would literally be the one to decide to make that change. There is no one else to "blame"

Additional funding is not needed for TSA lines.

There's a reason they quickly backed off of this. My guess is Noem came up with this brilliant idea and someone from the White House called and said to reverse course.

Precheck being shutdown would be all Trump administration. It doesn't have to be done because of shut down, which is why it isn't.

Explain how Precheck costs more to run than normal lines. If anything, they should shut down regular lines and save money! lol

If they shut down the normal lines in favor of ore-check, it would be an admission that it's theatre so will never happen unfortunately...

Precheck is considered non essential. So, the program can absolutely be affected by the shutdown

I dont know the cost implications but I do know that tsa staffing levels will dip and programs of convenience will be the first things cut.
