I can't believe some of the pounders in those fight clips can swing more than two or three times before dropping dead of a heart attack.

Sadly, 6th street turned about 12-15 years ago. Pretty much trash central now.

6th in the 80's and 90's was top notch.
Our society is really circling the drain.
It's really sad. There is no concept of the greater good or social contract anymore.
I'm not saying 6th street was Pleasantville but people on general weren't as completely self absorbed as they are now….in every aspect of society.

This! Met my wife on 6th street.

We don't go out to bars anymore, but if I do it's in Nashville. I feel safe and enjoy the music scene and people watching. Couldn't pay me to go back to 6th street.

Good on them. It seems like it's a dumb idea to go to 6th St at night.

That looks like a 100% set up.

Dude was filming this and cops were all right there…

Correct, people just do not randomly film outside of bars on 6th street.

If I wanted to experience that kind of stuff, I'd just book a flight on Spirit or a Carnival cruise.

Austin should rename 6th Street to Feral Street.

Turned 20 years ago. Last time I went was a Mardi Gras and all it was were girls lifting their shirts up to show their tits and all males trying to grope them and run off. It became feral then. Whatever happened to just looking at a nice pair and acknowledging them.

I went to Nashville ( Lower Broadway )for the first time a couple of years ago. Friends asked me what I thought, I said " It's like 6th St in the 90s". Actual live music every other club.

6th St now, nobody respectable goes there at all.

Couple thoughts.

First off society would be much better if perps just laid down to be arrested like that but it usually doesn't happen like that.

Second, 6th Street went from kind of sketchy but fun to trashy about 15 years ago. Part of that is so many other little areas like 4th Street and Rainey Street and Upper 6th kept growing and pulling away folks that just wanted to go out for a good time. Now 6th Street is pretty feral. Still go downtown every once in a while but would never go near 6th after dark but I'm also an old now. Mainly though it's just gotten stupid expensive down there to the point where I don't know how people regularly go out anymore, it definitely helps explain why younger people can't afford homes because I sure as hell couldn't if I spent any significant time there.

Finally, Austin has actually gotten a little better the last couple of years starting with the camping ban. It was going downhill like an express train but that slowed things down a bit. They gutted the APD though and that will be something they can't fix. I live in the Burbs but am looking to get out soon, liberals destroy everything.

Yes they do. That's TX Street Fights entire business model. They hang out around 6th street with high quality cameras and get fight footage. APD has officers on every corner around there so they almost always respond within 30 seconds. Click the link to their Twitter page and you'll see dozens of fights, it's quite entertaining. This obviously wasn't this guys first time getting arrested.
