NFL is not a company though, it's a NONPROFIT trade organization that enjoys many benefits and protections afforded uniquely to it by Congress.

It's up to the collective owners to swap Goodell or run the risk Congress takes a closer look.

I didn't know that it was a non-profit. Interesting, seeing as how all they do is make profits and do things to make sure they do nothing but make more and more profits.

If the owners love making money more than anything else, it's hard to see them getting rid of someone who, if Half Time goes the way most think it will, is about to make sure they make more and more money through the global market.

That's a few million more than last year's record-breaking views by Kendrick Lamar's halftime show. And they're (NFL) expecting that number, knowing maga isn't going to be watching.

They just announced the Cowboys are going to play in Rio next season.

Until the IS public wants to make a statement with the lie pocket books, then the NFL will keep doing what they do for its members.

But at some point, one has to ask should these leagues keep their unique labor bargaining and other protections.

They will keep them for sure as long as the campaign and lobbying coffers are filled and rhetoric remains contained / low.

The LEAGUE is non profit. The teams all pay taxes

The owners pays Goodell $64mm/year. It's clear how they feel about him!

To be clear, from an NFL owners perspective he has done well and recovered from several major missteps and issues.

I even like the foreign played games, would like to attend one.

I don't care for the woke nonsense and halftime performers. Gives us a good opportunity to have some close friends and their families over for a good watching commercials and puppies.

NFL gave up its non-profit status a decade ago. They still distribute most of the money they make to the teams, but they gave up their official status as far as government protections go in 2015.

Interesting. They gave up $10 million (at the time) in tax savings in order to not have to submit financial disclosures to keep that status.

They still enjoy (as do the other leagues) enjoy the antitrust, allowing Congress some say in the matters. But it seems those issues only arise when a particular congress critter needs their coffers refilled.

20-25 million should be a realistic target. Over that would put it at the top of alternative half time shows.

Less would seem ho-hum.

But the goal is not to compete. It's to offer an alternative that doesn't have some no talent arse clown preach anti American rhetoric, divisive speech.

Absolutely and I know of at least another half dozen households / watch parties will be flipping over to it for halftime. So at least 100 of so of us combined.

I'm not watching the game, but I'm gonna turn on the TPUSA halftime show

We have about 20 or so gathering here. All TVs will be showing TPUSA.

I'm not watching anything. I typically don't watch the Super Bowl, and the last halftime show I remember watching was probably The Who.

Most normal people don't discuss if they'll be watching or not. For most people I'm sure it's just the TV being left on and serving as background noise.

The discourse seems to be coming from boomers that get offended by everything, and Redditors that refer to this as "The Bad Bunny concert being interrupted by sportsball"

I'm going out to dinner with my family and probably going to Nebraska Furniture Mart in hopes that it's not as insane as it usually is

I don't know the television proclivities of my friends nor coworkers, nor do I care.

I don't watch professional sports anymore, since all of them seem to be filled with kids blessed enough to (mostly) go through club leagues ($$$$) into good schools (or straight to pros) only to be "oppressed" into mega millionaire status.

I won't be watching any of it, but Bunny already performed once at the SB, IIRC and we're all still here, breathing....

My tailgating group has an active group text. We talk about Aggie sports, politics, the weather, and whatever else is on our minds. "Who the eff is Bad Bunny" was a topic of discussion followed by "no way I am watching that crap".
