It's jumping the shark. They try to be so "pure" that their ideas don't make sense anymore. It's why I am a libertarian-leaning conservative and not just a libertarian. We do need some government, but it needs to be as small as possible. Our immigration policy cannot just let people stay once they're here. The last 40 years have shown the folly in that. We've destroyed some states/cities and severely harmed American culture.

I listen to the PBD podcast when I'm driving longer than 15 minutes or so. He had Eand on and I couldn't listen more than 5 minutes.

Rand might be one of the most philosophically consistent members of the senate. Everyone else has a highest bidder mindset. I respect him for that.

I tried watching it, but couldn't tolerate it after 3 minutes so I turned it off.

Imagine the ethics of a politician who makes decisions based on facts right and wrong instead of red and blue. Despicable. Pick a side loser.

Except when sticking to his personal guns means he votes against the President and the rest of the party, and by default aligning with the Democrats.

It's one thing to stick to your guns. It's another to know how and when to pick your battles and know when and what you will win. Governance is ultimately about a willingness to compromise.

He's ineffective as a leader sent to Washington to represent the entire State of Kentucky, not his own personal philosophical beliefs.

If someone doesn't believe that a particular viewpoint is "the greater good", why would that person support it regardless of what "side" does?

Haven't watched the clip, but Rand is usually a pretty logical, high-integrity conservative person. If he doesn't think something meets that criteria, but other R's do, why would he vote for it just because some R's did. They aren't jiving with his beliefs, party notwithstanding.
