Interesting take by these gooners. In essence they assert that content is being double pay walled while the initial agreement upon sign up promises full access to all content. I agree with their arguments that this is deceptive and a bait and switch to the consumers.

Sounds like a simp who's wife found his OF account, and is now trying to make back the money from the divorce he just shelled out for. Good luck dude, that chick spent that money on her " mommy make over"

Porn and OF should be illegal. An argument could be made that this has had a greater negative impact on society than any drug or alcohol.

Vices as we call it now, have been around since humans have existed.

Ever seen some of the painting and frescoes from Roman times? We call it "art" because it was painted 2000 years ago, but if someone painted them today, it would be called porn.

Human nature simply does not change, and we cannot legislate our way to morality. Outlaw it, and it simply goes underground.

Then there is that pesky 1st Amendment so many people lately don't seem to like, at least when it comes to their pet issue(s).

This post isn't in defense of porn. Just like abortion, I find it to be morally repugnant (under our system of government, abortion is a state matter), but at the same time, I don't want the government putting its jackboot on people's necks, like it is the US from "Escape from L.A."

Absolutely. Just like alcohol, tobacco, etc., no one under 18 or 21 (the age could be debated) should have access to it. Heck, one could make a sound argument none of those things should be legal until a person is 25 and their brain is fully developed.

I think in terms of how addictive it is and the net detriment to society porn is, it's more comparable to meth than free speech.

Do you think methamphetamine should be legal?

I think everyone should be able to do to themselves whatever they want, so long as they don't violate anyone else's rights and I don't have to pay for them. If porn addicts are stealing stuff to pay for their addiction, they should go to jail for that.

Your redirection isn't very pertinent anyway. You didn't answer my query, why is that?

WHO DECIDES what is and what isn't harmful? The government? The politicians? Like the ones who think guns are bad for society, or "hate" speech should put you in prison????

No thanks, I don't need the government giving and taking away my rights.

I've never taken a call on anyone who died of overdose watching porn. I have taken calls on people who have overdose on drugs. Read the Bible, porn and prostitution has been around since the time of man.

There is no comparison between paintings from Roman times and the hardcore pornography that is easily accessible today.

I know that banning it would make it go underground, I still think that would be a net positive. Some things are harmful enough that action needs to be taken.

I respect the First Amendment; however, I do not think that the ability to watch someone get their back blown out on an iPhone screen is speech.

I've never taken a call on anyone who died of overdose watching porn. I have taken calls on people who have overdose on drugs. Read the Bible, porn and prostitution has been around since the time of man.

Over 90% of men regularly view porn. The average boy views porn for the first time at the age of 11. This surely has a profound impact on a man's ability to get into a relationship, a man's ability to function in a relationship, and then a man's ability to function as a father down the road from that.

Male loneliness has been the greatest its ever been, fewer men are getting married, there is a massively rising rate in guys that have never even been on a date with a woman. On top of all of that, there is the transgender issue that I'm sure many on here find to be morally objectionable. Pornography plays a massive role in all of these things and the general decay in society.

I don't know what porn being around since Biblical times has to do with anything. Does the Bible say that porn is okay, then? Rape, murder, and any most other crimes have been around since Biblical times. So what?

The discussion on banning porn, and other similar ones on "bans", are pretty interesting to me. I teeter on the fence, falling either way depending on the direction the wind blows. I find myself agreeing whole heartedly with the arguments for banning it, while my pseudo (l)ibertarian views struggle with the idea of an outright ban on most things. I follow these threads with pretty genuine interest and open mindedness on the topic.

That said, abortion is a completely different topic; "If" abortion is murder (typically the view of people who morally object) then it should be outlawed at all levels. It's a "question" of science, not of subjectively "imposing your own morality". I only dare build off the abortion comment (at my own peril) not intending to completely derail the thread with a discussion on the intricacies of that debate, but to reject the notion the same logic applies to both porn and abortion.

Doesn't sound deceptive at all.

If all of their OF content is advertisements for other content, sounds like they get full access to the ads.

Onlyfans subscriptions are like a buffet with a sign out front that says "$5, everything all you can eat" but when you pay $5 to sit down they point to a buffet of like 4 appetizers and then hand you a menu and everything is $50.

Historically, most societies had the combination of incentivized marriage, legal prostitution and accepted double standards for men and women sexually within relationships (ie affairs by men were tolerated to a much greater degree than they were for women). And even with this setup, rape was a massive and widespread problem a couple orders of magnitude greater than what we see today. In many societies throughout history lower class women were more likely than not to be raped at some point in their lives.

In the last 100 years or so, most western societies have disincentivized monogamy/marriage, outlawed prostitution and acceptable standards within relationships for men and women have more or less equalized (ie men at judge very harsh for affairs today even among the upper classes). Despite this, rape is far less of a problem now. Now some of that is improved law enforcement, less stigma rounding women reporting, etc. but it's impossible to ignore the role pornography has played in that. Like it or not it is by far the "best" outlet to date for the hypersexual drive of a statistically significant percentage of young and middle aged men. At the very least it is morally identical to prostitution (and I would say superior, since prostitution is incredibly physically dangerous for women) while being much better at stopping men from forcing their sex drives upon the general populace.

When you look at the combination of our current setup, and the demographics of rapists, I just don't think our society is ok with the things we'd have to do now to prevent a massive spike in sexual assault if porn was banned.
