Randa Duncan. Typical hypocritical White Liberal Women for you.

Has no problem owning Enterprise Products, making billions off moving O&G around.

Yet, also owns and propagates Liberal Mental Disorder through propaganda in that filthy rag, Texas Monthly.

Oh no…….will some liberal articles make you guys go blind or something.

I love it. Regardless of political slant, it has some great articles about interesting places……history…..and the food reviews are awesome, even if I disagree with a few.

Why should people willingly give money to organizations who are vehemently opposed to their way of life and ideals they support?

Voting with our money is the only way change will happen since money drives everything in our society. See Bud Light, Tractor Supply, Harley Davidson, etc. You can't do a 100% boycott in the modern world, but you can pick and choose who gets your hard earned cash.

"Media" and "entertainment" were first on my chopping block. I want to be entertained with media. I don't want a political statement.

I'll never forget right after Florida won 2 football and 2 basketball national titles from 2006-2008 they ran a cover trying to call the horn athletic department the best ever.

They've never exactly had any self-awareness of anything outside of their little bubble.

Texas Monthly is almost free to subscribe anymore, especially if you consider that you can gift a friend or two a subscription for free. I still dropped it if that tells you anything.

Everything is a liberal rag according to somebody on this board. Read what you want.

Sure, but there are those of us that used to enjoy Texas Monthly for focusing on Texas culture and having only a modest amount of liberal bias. Now they feel the need to have lots of condescending articles that show contempt for Texas culture or embarrassment for it while praising any politician that wants to tear it down and make us into California. It could be so much more successful and interesting if they just had an ounce of self control to understand that not everyone wants to be lectured about their leftist views and those who do have a gazillion options.

The reality is that if they hadn't discovered gold years ago with the BBQ ratings they would be gone. It's basically like how US News started rating colleges, only US News figured out that they just lean in on that and haven't had a physical magazine for years. Texas monthly still prints but that's because it sounds nice to have sitting on a table in a waiting room.

They can do as they wish and if you want to spend your money supporting them go for it but I don't like anything that claims to represent our great State and shows utter contempt for everything that makes it great.

How would anyone know whether it is liberal or not?

The only times I have purchased that magazine in the last 20 years is at the airport. It takes the entire flight to find an article buried between swaths of advertisements and lists of doctors/lawyers.

I find Texas Monthly invaluable whenever I need to find a medical professional that should theoretically really impress my friends.

I absolutely love the Texas Monthly true crime articles so I subscribed. I have read every true crime they wrote for about 30 years.

But, I can't take it anymore. I am letting mine lapse. It's not just a liberal magazine - its so full of lies and trash. Man, do they despise Christians.

And their BBQ ratings are now clickbait. They change the winners ever year and I have been to a few of their recommended places and was underwhelmed.

Texas Monthly: might as well subscribe to Mother Jones News.

If you get it for the BBQ articles, HINT: if you see a BBQ place in Texas, go in and eat it. It's good.
“It was miraculous. It was almost no trick at all, he saw, to turn vice into virtue and slander into truth, impotence into abstinence, arrogance into humility, plunder into philanthropy, thievery into honor, blasphemy into wisdom, brutality into patriotism, and sadism into justice. Anybody could do it; it required no brains at all. It merely required no character.”

I have not read it in years, as it was a liberal rag even back then. I did buy the June 2025 edition, which just happened to be the BBQ issue. They had a very good article about Ron Forrester '69. His A-6 was lost at night over North Vietnam in December 1972. His daughter was relentless in spending decades in finding his remains and was successful in recovery. There was actually a four part podcast around that time.

The entire cover was about BBQ except a small line about the search rather than this Aggie who gave it all.

If you are going to subscribe to something like this, you are better off going with Garden & Gun which will cover and mention Texas probably more than TM actually does. In the past, it was apolitcal and focused on rich ass m'fers living in the South and Texas and expensive wares made in the South by locals. I enjoyed it for a while but gave it up because I couldn't keep up with it.

I've yet to read the article, but I have a feeling a couple posters here will absolutely love the February issue:

Agree. I took Garden & Gun because I had a couple free magazine subscriptions from Verizon bonuses at some point, and I picked it on the title alone. Pretty good, but I also fell off from keeping up with reading any monthly magazines anymore.

Why pay for TM when you can get the same content on Reddit for free?

Blame Frost Bank for sending it so me all these years.

I would rather have ATM fees waived but alas I get hardcopy Reddit delivered monthly.

I did learn during my morning constitutional with Texas Monthly that Ted Cruz secured $85 million to move the Space Shuttle Discovery from DC to Houston.

Not sure if I think it's the best use of taxpayer dollars, but I like it overall. Any reason some Texas billionaire couldn't cover the cost here?

I have never subscribed to Texas Monthly, but I heard it's a liberal magazine. I am glad I get to read Texas Highways for free because I work for TxDOT. I notice how there are Texas Monthly magazines from different periods sitting on display for months.
