Would be just as disappointing. This country is better than this. Attitude reflects leadership.

We've home grown just as many. Also, I'd argue that, historically, imported people made America the great country that she's been. This country(left and right) just needs to use common sense regarding immigration. It's not rocket science.

Legal immigration. Praise God we've got Trump to kick the illegals out.

The Battle of Athens, also known as the McMinn County War, was an armed rebellion by World War II veterans and citizens against entrenched political corruption in Athens, Tennessee, on August 12, 1946, culminating in the forcible seizure and recounting of ballots to overturn election fraud by local officials.
Huh? Americans want the laws followed. Your president opened the borders for four years and let human refuse from all over the world overrrun our cities. We want them out.Davanji84 said:dermdoc said:

Leftists need to stop fighting to endanger innocent Americans. Marixists like Walz and Hakeem Jeffries are the ones egging it on.

I think one mistake the current admin has made with this is not having a clear and simple path to citizenship for those they capture who
1. Are not here legally
2. Are employed and have been
3. Have no criminal record
4. Are receiving no government benefits
If the government was giving those folks a quick and easy path without deportation, that included paying a fine, I think the temperature might go down.

They don't deserve, nor in my opinion should they receive, a quick and easy path to citizenship. They knowingly broke the law coming here. You don't reward lawlessness. It begets and incentivizes more lawlessness, not to mention these people have demonstrated behavior that we don't want in citizens.

This. If there are negative consequences for self-reporting that discourage illegals from trying to follow the law, we should remove those disincentives.bobbranco said:TheCurl84 said:

I know this is an emotional issue for some but remember rooting out the criminal illegals is the current effort. No massive dragnet through neighborhoods are being conducted.
What is keeping an illegal from going to the local immigration station, following the law, and filling out the appropriate paperwork?

But, HSAT, it's also important to remember that the left isn't engaging in honest debate about immigration. They don't want any deportation at all, and they want the temperature as high as possible. Trying to reason with Democrat leaders and professional protestors is a fools errand.

Exactly. Even the much maligned H-1Bs have to wait a couple of decades (if Indian) for their green cards and citizenship. It's not quick or easy. Nor should it be.
Illegals should go home and apply if they want to come here.

Trump just pardoned Adriana Camberos, a woman he pardoned TWICE for separate criminal charges of fraud because she's one of his largest donors. But MAGA is anti fraud right?

If the admin were able to break it down into groups, backed by all the numbers and some anecdotal stories, showing how they handled each group:
1. Criminal illegals apprehended and either prosecuted or deported or both
2. Qualifying illegals (according to my stipulations articulated earlier, or something similar) who had been captured, now well on their way to citizenship without deportation
3. Current citizens inadvertently captured during these raids quickly released
Then there might be a chance of lowering the temp.

Not a practical solution.
