I say this with the most sincerely honest answer I can offer……I would be flaming PO'd, embarrassed, demanding those folks to step down and I would be relentless in working towards that end. As a Republican, who have only ever voted Republican would become enemy #1 of the Republican Party. I think most of us would do the same.

What I would NOT do is hook up with other misfits, travel to other city's dragging my kid around and sticking them in unknown daycare while I drive around in cars getting in the way of LEO carrying out their duty. You know the ones that lawmakers have agreed and passed for all to follow without bizarre interpretations of how laws are/are not allowed to be applied.

First, let me see if I can clear up some potential misunderstandings.

1. Agree. This American wants laws followed.
2. Biden wasn't "my" President and, I agree, opening that border without vetting procedures and guardrails was a very big mistake.
3. I want the immigrants who have no desire to follow our legal path to citizenship, as painful and inefficient as that may be, gone. I also want any immigrant who thinks it's okay to commit a serious crime here out.

There's nothing to be proud about regarding what is occurring in Minnesota. Or Portland. Or LA. It's very disappointing. People are very angry regarding how this deportation program is being executed and, as much as I understand that, it doesn't give one a license to make things go from bad to even worse.

As I said above, attitude reflects leadership. In my humble opinion, there has been a lack of leadership from both sides. I don't see a leader from either side trying to bring down the temperature. Not only in Minnesota but all across this country. That's disappointing also.

We are better than this. We can do things better, and smarter, than we are right now. That applies to the actions and rhetoric on both sides.

And back to the point of the OP, I would use these EXACT words if it was MAGA doing the same as we see folks doing now in Minnesota.

This. If there are negative consequences for self-reporting that discourage illegals from trying to follow the law, we should remove those disincentives.

But, HSAT, it's also important to remember that the left isn't engaging in honest debate about immigration. They don't want any deportation at all, and they want the temperature as high as possible. Trying to reason with Democrat leaders and professional protestors is a fools errand.

The last part of your last sentence is a generalization. I'm certainly not talking about those folks. And as for the rest of what you said, it isn't practical. We won't be able to round up all the folks who have come here illegally. Folks have been coming into our country illegally for longer than I've been alive.

What I'm suggesting would be a practical solution for those who have behaved well and contributed to our communities. And it would go a long way to reducing the emotions.

Sure. In a perfect world they would all march down to their local government office and obey the law. But that's not a practical expectation. And while I agree that the intent of ICE is not to dragnet for all illegals, Trump is losing in the battle of public perception. If they had a simple and easy process for those who qualify to obtain citizenship without deportation, then much of the anxiety would recede in those communities.

If the admin were able to break it down into groups, backed by all the numbers and some anecdotal stories, showing how they handled each group:

1. Criminal illegals apprehended and either prosecuted or deported or both
2. Qualifying illegals (according to my stipulations articulated earlier, or something similar) who had been captured, now well on their way to citizenship without deportation
3. Current citizens inadvertently captured during these raids quickly released

Then there might be a chance of lowering the temp.
