Lets knock out some questions.

Buda and Kyle are Hays County, we haven't gone blue yet, but it is a fight.

No Chinese buffet in Buda

This is really funny because ICE has already been running operations in Central Texas. There is a very prominent Aggie family and construction company that had an episode not too long ago on one of their sites.

Hays County voted 52-46 for Kamala and Tampon Tim. They voted Dem in every 2024 race except US Rep dist 21, county Sheriff, and one precinct commissioner race. Hays County has gone blue. It was a factor for me in why we moved to Bastrop instead of Buda/Kyle from Houston back in early 2023.

I think the cancer has metastasized from Austin. It won't stop until life(as you know it) has ended.

Places like Round Rock, Taylor, Lockhart, Bastrop, and Hays County are overrun with liberals that had to move out of Austin because they could not afford it. Hays and Caldwell County get the double whammy because of the big number of illegals that also moved in. You can't swing a gato muerte between San Marcos and Lockhart without hitting a Poco Loco convenience store.

Bastrop county voted 58-40 for Trump and Rep won every race except a couple of judge seats where a dem ran unopposed for some reason. We have a bunch of Cali plates showing up all the time, but we have stayed red out here so far.

Back in my day, FM 1626 ran from the IH-35 on the north and and stopped at FM 967. The part from FM 967 to Kyle is the "new part" to me. The Buda city limit sign on FM 967 was close to Onion Creek. The sign on FM 2770 was darn near at Main Street by the Sac-n-Pac and said Pop 492. It was a fun place to grow up, but those days are long gone

I think that battle is lost. Hays County was only ever marginally red at best. Places like Driftwood and Wimberley might have been red for a while, but that area east of IH-35 and around San Marcos has bed blue for quite some time. Plus the county was run by yellow dogs forever.

We are new to the Driftwood area. So strange I've yet to meet a liberal.

Haven't visited Wimberley?

1626 was clear the whole way from Kyle to Austin for me this morning. I guess 6 AM is too early for all the lib Karens/grandmas to get out and take care of serious anti-nazi business.

White liberals flocked to San Marcos because of the natural beauty and the college town atmosphere. Once these white liberals figure out San Marcos also has a lot of blue collar Mexicans they move out to Wimberley.

They have to pay them extra to show up before 9am and can't afford the OT right now with the USAID money cut off.

Give it a week. With that kind of turnout, the money folks are probably already filling busses to head south from Minneapolis.

I left Bastrop county for Lee county. Very glad I did. The city of Bastrop has managed to combine all the inconveniences of a small town with all the inconveniences of a large city and it's only going to get worse. I don't see it being red 20 years from now.

I will do my part to try to keep it red as long as I can. My hope is that the Californians moving here are the ones that were fed up with the blue state politics there, but I guess time will tell. It is kind of funny in a neighborhood full of Spacex and Tesla employees (many probably H1b) to still hear the ice cream truck driving down the street playing "one little two little three little indians".

The crowds will grow when the college kids are back in town and the profs send them out to "report on the protest" for extra credit.

We have a lone protester on the square in Georgetown today. Big flag says " **** ICE". He's pacing around screaming at everyone.

Looks like a regular guy not similar to the folks in MN. Still BSC.

Not many us remember having to go thru Buda to drive out to the HS with nothing but open land around it.
