I believe there are some people that simply can't help it. Either there's something wrong with their system such as metabolic syndrome since childhood. I'm not talking about your average dude that just got fat after being married and drinking beer. I mean the whole life obese people. I don't think they can change. And if medication can help them, it's probably worth the side effects.
The key word there is "some". Our traditional food system has not helped matters, but no one else on this planet had/has the obesity rates that we do. Most obese people put themselves there. Despite our food system, we've known for decades now what to eat and how to eat to stay healthy. There is really no excuse. And the fact that we got so fat as a country that being obese became a source of pride with a message that being obese is healthy is 1984 level propaganda.
Having said that, I applaud everyone on here who has lost weight however you did it. I'm 52 now and it's damn harder to maintain my fitness goals. I've had constant setbacks since I turned 45 between shoulder surgery, back surgery, two frozen shoulders in addition to surgery, unexplained nerve issues that come and go, etc. so I can relate to the battle to maintain your fitness. Through all of that the main thing I could control was my diet since exercise became very much sporadic at times.
And, I applaud you even if it's the shot which I have zero hate towards. The larger picture with those shots is that if it gets people out of our healthcare system down the road then I'm all for it. I just don't understand the point of the commercial in trying to shame the rest of us. It's like some sort of anti-normal ad to make us feel bad. You put yourself there so it's up to you to solve it. I'm also leery of the long-term effects of these shots which I'm not sure anyone truly understands yet.
