Watch telemundo if you want to see live reactions from around the world. Miami, Bogota, etc.

I asked my wife if her mom is celebrating and she said only at home, privately happy about today and thankful, but they know the truth is there is no government. So there won't be mass celebrating IN Venezuela until they see a new government, and a democratic one in that, installed. One thing Trump should now back off of is the "we're going to run it" talk. Chavez proclaiming the US were dirty imperialists only interested in VZ resources is what led to the initial no vote that ultimately got him in charge.

We need to push for Maria Corina/Edmundo publicly and work more quietly behind the scenes during the transition. My wife said it is extremely important because multiple generations of Venezuelans may be poor and hungry and happy that Maduro is gone, but they've spent their entire life being fed propaganda that the US just wants to take over. So we can't present that to them to think about when election time comes.

Happy that he's gone and that there is now hope for the future, but cautious about the long-term unintended consequences that can come from this sort of thing.

It is important that (1) this action inure to the long-term benefit of the Venezuelan people. (2) President Trump not get carried away with this sort of thing. He (and his advisors) must realize open cross-border intervention as policy in the affairs of sovereign nations -- even those we find odious -- is outside the bounds of settled and civilized diplomacy, which diplomacy in the larger sense is the basis of order on the world stage. Though it is more difficult and takes longer, statecraft in the long run is the only realistic choice to stave off chaos. Even if this means a return to wholesale usage of the tried and abused (and terrible in itself) clandestine CIA-type operations. Not that these have in any way disappeared but bad as they are, a trend toward "Big-Daddy-ism" is worse. The hemisphere can't be governed from Washington, and to go there would sooner or later, in one way or another portend unthinkable results. For everyone, no matter what color hat we wear.

Our country, of course, is not the only country to whom these cautions apply. But the hope is to keep any nation from taking this or a similar misstep. In this direction lies the Grimpen Bog.

Remember the last time we invaded a country because of its evil leader and attempted to take control of the region and its oil? How well did that end up for us?

This time won't be as hard. Hopefully we learned our lesson. Instead of firing all the men and pissing them, keep everybody employed and keep paying them. In Iraq we dismantled the government, and gave it to the opposition in a country full of opposing factions. Venezuela doesn't have that.

Won't be as hard? What makes you think that? He has not stopped a single war. Isreal is still bombing Gaza and Russia is still attacking Ukraine.

We are not in control of the country like we were in Iraq. Our money belongs here in America.

My favorite so far is the mayor of New York City acting like he's someone a president should give a damn about.

"Look, some people talk about invasion in Venezuela and the threat of an invasion in Venezuela and I answered Venezuela has been already invaded," Machado said.

"We have the Russian agents, we have the Iranian agents. We have terrorist groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, operating freely in accordance with the regime," she continued. She then talked about the forces within the country that have "turned Venezuela into the criminal hub of the Americas."
The Nobel Prize winner said that "what has sustained the regime is a very powerful and strongly funded repression system."
Machado went on to outline where those funds come from: drug trafficking, black market sales of oil, arms trafficking, and human trafficking, explaining that "we need to cut those flows" for the regime to be "over."

With all the videos of folks dancing in the streets, bear in mind that if a foreign country were to sweep in and kidnap Trump and haul him off the face trial for whatever trumped up charge they could come up with, there would be no shortage of video of people dancing in the streets here.

The only difference is it wouldn't be every single American around the world except those who made money off the govt cheering and dancing like it is for Venezuela.

I have a high school friend who is living in Venezuela and has for years and said he was given a heads-up to stay away from the capital last night and he did. He is OK. I don't know from who he was warned.

This was his initial message:
I am safe.
Warned in advance.
Free Venezuela.

Then when asked about information and Cabello and Lopez he said:

"Thus far all information is being severely repressed locally but there will be in the following hours many, many rumors and false information so try to stick to official news reports from the White House. Cabello is in El Furial according to sources but he is said to have an escape route via Guiria but that has not been confirmed. Diosdado is a bigger target than Maduro."

He is a big supporter of Trump as well.

And your point is not to believe that the Venezuelan people are happy and glad this happened?

We saw those ****ers dancing back on 911. We know how hated America and certain presidents have been. What's your point?

"The Chinese Communist Party's "all-weather" partnership with Maduro's regime failed to shield the dictator from facing accountability for endangering Americans. This outcome should be a clear lesson to other actors aligning with the CCP.

More broadly, the United States must deny China positioning and influence in the Western Hemisphere that would threaten America's national security interests. The CCP's ambitions and actions make clear this is non-negotiable."

Only people that supported Maduro would be upset about this. And who gives a **** about them? Evil people just like the Democrats here. Many of them were happy at the assassination attempt on Trump and very disappointed when he didn't die. I don't give a **** what they think.

I've served on the Homeland Security Committee for the past three years. I'm 100% for strong safe secure borders and stopping narco terrorists and cartels from trafficking deadly drugs and human trafficking into America.

Fentanyl is responsible for over 70% of U.S. drug overdose deaths and fentanyl comes from Mexican cartels made with chemical precursors from China and trafficked across the U.S. Mexico border.

Mexican cartels are primarily and overwhelmingly responsible for killing Americans with deadly drugs.

If U.S. military action and regime change in Venezuela was really about saving American lives from deadly drugs then why hasn't the Trump admin taken action against Mexican cartels?

And if prosecuting narco terrorists is a high priority then why did President Trump pardon the former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez who was convicted and sentenced for 45 years for trafficking hundreds of tons of cocaine into America? Ironically cocaine is the same drug that Venezuela primarily traffics into the U.S.

The next obvious observation is that by removing Maduro this is a clear move for control over Venezuelan oil supplies that will ensure stability for the next obvious regime change war in Iran.

And of course why is it ok for America to militarily invade, bomb, and arrest a foreign leader but Russia is evil for invading Ukraine and China is bad for aggression against Taiwan? Is it only ok if we do it? (I'm not endorsing Russia or China)

Regime change, funding foreign wars, and American's tax dollars being consistently funneled to foreign causes, foreigners both home and abroad, and foreign governments while Americans are consistently facing increasing cost of living, housing, healthcare, and learn about scams and fraud of their tax dollars is what has most Americans enraged. Especially the younger generations. Boomers and half of Gen X will cheer on neocon wars and talking points, but the other half of Gen X and majority on down see through it and hate it.

Americans disgust with our own government's never ending military aggression and support of foreign wars is justified because we are forced to pay for it and both parties, Republicans and Democrats, always keep the Washington military machine funded and going.

This is what many in MAGA thought they voted to end.

Boy were we wrong.

As the baby boomers slip away both in votes and power, the electoral future will be decided for candidates that focus on American economic populism and promising prosperity for Americans only.

As of right now, neither party is offering the solution

I think what she is saying is that old people like me... as we die off... will be replaced by younger voters who will **** bricks for libs/socialism/name your ****ed up policy position. They're being indoctrinated today... and will be voting tomorrow.

I'm just reading between the lines. Plus, I'm a realist.
