Maybe the largest slippery slope in our lifetime and neither is a good option. US police state through Palantir or losing the AI war to China? Feels like a no-win situation for the US civilian.

Losing the AI race/war to China is an extremely dangerous risk. I'm not sure we have to forfeit privacy to do it, but big players on all sides are using vast quantities of public and unencrypted private data to train their AI models.

He is a socialist, so of course he wants to give up privacy.
There's absolutely nothing altruistic in his drive to beat China to the punch
He doesn't care about actual people

If you think the governments aren't already doing this, you are a fool. They are 100% using AI to plan a future with more control over the population.
I hate that about the future. I hate that we give up our ability to talk **** about anyone and speak our minds... That will all end in the next 20 years.

I am so sick of this crap. I know a lot of you don't agree, but this whole AI thing is WAY overblown. We should absolutely not give up anymore privacy or allow any type of government subsidies under the guise of "winning".

Here's what will happen.
These so called AI companies have spent way more money on infra than they should have. FOMO. Now they won't be able to monetize it. And investors want their money back they will demand bailouts from public money. Our idiot politicians will give it to them "so we can compete with China".

The companies will layoff employees, and move jobs to India, to show they are making progress

Palantir already said they are working with the US government which means they already have your data. Sadly the Patriot Act ended privacy a long time ago.

My son just interviewed with Palantir. Haven't heard back yet. Hope he gets a call for the next round.
I hope they won't decide it is better to hire some H1B scumbags from India instead "just because they are cheap".

Sure easy to say when you stand to gain billions in the process. To show that he is okay with it, why doesn't he release all of his personal info to stand in solidarity with us plebs?

I believe he says all of that with best of intentions. But I doubt the possibility of a good outcome.

Palantir will go down in history as one of the largest bad guys around, your son should look elsewhere IMO.

I listened to part of an interview with him on CNBC a few days ago and he wasn't remotely socialist...in that interview. What I heard from him I agreed with. He came across as pretty honest, frank, and realistic.
I haven't listened to the interview in this one, but I'm not down with anymore privacy intrusion if that's what he's proposing.

If you can't beat 'em....
