Of these three choices, what would you rank in terms of pure lunacy:

1) NYC is so far removed from 9/11 that they have elected a Muslim, anti-Jewish socialist to run the biggest financial center of the entire world.

2) 9 out of 10 black voters in Virginia went for the crazy white liberal cat lady that worked for the CIA over the accomplished gun toting black woman.

3) A guy who said he'd love to see his opponent's toddlers be murdered get elected to become the newest Attorney General of Virginia.

4) I suppose all of the above are equally as crazy.

Some party the Dems have these days. Gutter trash of the highest order. I guess the bright side is the boomerang effect of this evening will be magnificent for Republicans going forward.

If you are reading this and still affiliate with Democrats then it is time to do some serious soul searching. Yikes.

I don't know about craziest thing, but the biggest takeaway is probably that the party with the best populism message will probably continue to win.

Mamdani/aoc/dems are leaning into a socialist policy wrapped up in a populism package- things like income inequality, free stuff, social justice. More of a message about you and your victimhood

Trump won on a populism message based on a nationalistic america first message. More of an us message

Dems win every where. This just means come Saturday, Aggies are going to get spanked across the field.

Another issue that may turn out to be a bigger deal than weve previously thought is the fracture forming between the trump supporters and followers of people like Carlson. I didn't think it'd be that big of a deal in the end, and probably still wont be. I dont think it would change votes. But it might cause enough people to not vote which could be equally devastating.

Just look at mtg for an example

Those who worship people like Tucker Qatarson, Owens, Fuentes, Mahler, etc. likely never voted Trump or Republicans because they do not see either as far enough to the right. One of them is currently mocking Sears because she is black over on the Fuentes thread.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

I think it is time to stop calling most of them "Jews". They are Americans with Israeli ancestors. They only think of themselves as Jewish when they need to play the victimhood card.

my b staff, wrong thread

mamdani win is for sure the biggest storyline. that nyc was willing to take a gamble on his absurd economic policies is a sign of how dire the affordability crisis is, and how little faith they have in oligarchs and their preferred candidates to do anything about it.

This should very much be an alarm bell night for the Republicans for 2026. The biggest problem republicans/conservatives have is that we are largely out doing life, and don't think much about politics and elections outside of the president. For the progressives and liberals, politics and elections at every level IS life.

I think the craziest thing tonight is that I'm sure most of the New Yorkers who voted for Mandami are probably VERY concerned about "Christian Nationalism" but have no issues apparently with Islamo-Socialism.

And that by the way is the other part of the problem. The older don't realize how much the govt and institutions have screwed over the generations coming. They have great motive to turn to push back, and the challenge will be trying to make sure more go right than left. Look at what that guy interviewed at the Mamdani gathering was saying about the USSR.

If the choice is Christian Nationalism in a literal sense vs USSA or such, so be it.

People voted for Trump because he said he would make stuff cheaper.

A lot of those same people voted for democrats (or stayed home) because stuff isn't cheaper.

The republicans thought they won last time because people rejected all the crazy democrat social crap. But that was a misread of what happened. People voted against democrats because they decided that the Dems focused on crazy **** INSTEAD of focusing on the economy. And now it looks like the republicans have spent a year focusing on stuff other than the economy.

That is overlooking amercer's real point that may be true. That's assuming that some kind of analysis of what the "change" would do takes place. But it usually doesn't.

Remember what Tucker so accurately said in late summer of 2020? That what really happens when times are hard or bad and especially chaotic, is voters vote against the chaos -- the PRESENT. They throw it out. They DO NOT distinguish between details. They throw the Present out in return for CHANGE.

That's the risk. He may be right.

The lesson here is that it never matters how big of a win Republicans have in one election (e.g., 2024)…the democrats will, by hook or by crook, rebound in the next election. Unfortunately the same is not true of Republicans because they're often too busy infighting amongst themselves. Since Election Day 2024, I've believed Trump is only a speed bump in the road to America's decline, and I think that's still true. The major population centers in this country are way too far gone to ever come back to sanity, law, and order.

A lot of overreaction in this thread to Dem candidates winning in blue states.

Yawn.

Some GOTV learnings in Virginia for R's to apply to the midterms. That's a lesson learned. But any prognostications about how this is a massive rejection of R's is simply a bunch of garbage. The socialist winning the mayor's race in NYC is actually very good for R's. I hope the media runs endless stories of his agenda in the coming months.

Tend to agree with that in a provisional way. A loss in '28 would clench that take because of what it says. Have especially inclined that way since week of Sept 8th. What it showed. On the other hand, this reset does have many "real looking" aspects --- its only the stratospheric levels of corruption of the Hill, Judiciary and MSM that are slowing it enough to make it look like it will fail. (Granting they may even succeed in making it stillborn, but if they do suspect Gen Z is just going to dispense with it all)

In Roman terms, Trump may simply be Aurelian.

However, such comparisons may be off --- it may be more a Caesar/Octavian moment is at hand --- not a collapse.

Craziest news of the night?

Austinites said No to a proposition increasing taxes. Thet shot down a property tax increase, "to combat homelessness, and to add administrative capacity".
The 3.5% increase wasn't enough, they wanted more, and Austin said No.

https://thetexan.news/elections/2025/austin-voters-reject-proposition-q-tax-increase-funding-homeless-services/article_eb42e2e7-e847-4262-963d-0160fb7e0168.html

Quote:

The Austin American-Statesman's editorial board also recommended a vote against Proposition Q over "careless use of taxpayer dollars." The news outlet recently reported that city council members had used individual office budgets of $898,000 each to make donations to nonprofit and advocacy groups such as Liberal Austin Democrats and Texas Gun Sense.

Look at this irony.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/mamdani-tells-msnbc-i-support-bds-after-saying-he-will-be-the-mayor-for-every-jewish-new-yorker/ar-AA1PNLhG?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=690ab984d5c04888a4bb3fa7d25ab025&ei=26

He is for the BDS.

So why Bill Kristol is fretting about fake fascism and endorses Mamdani, Mamdani backs the very enemies that would do the real thing.

This is all planned, the only way you get rid of these people is put one in charge - they will probably never do it again. Same with London- look at 4 years from now not today and the next 2-3 years Take a vacation from this stuff and check back
Just my 2 cents opinion - now we go tend to the fields
