Yes, he did, and it's something that he's still the better choice than an Islamist Communist.

That's how far NYC has fallen.

Oh the irony.

Five years ago, anyone making the claim about Cuomo killing people in New York with his WuFlu policies would be labeled a COVID/science denier and/or a conspiracy theorist. Millions of Branch Covidians claimed that New York was "handing COVID the right way" and vehemently lambasted Texas, Florida, and any other state which doesn't go full CCP in their response.

Now the left admits that is exactly what he did.

A lot of people are saying that Sliwa should drop out so Cuomo would have a better chance, why shouldn't Cuomo drop out so Sliwa would have a better chance?

Yet ironically, he's governed much more conservatively than any Republican president since Reagan.

Seeing the people who advised the Bushes, McCain, and Romney illuminates why. They aren't republicans at all.

I disagree. Trump is a populist (I think it's a good thing, others consider it an insult) and he melded the conservatives and the middle right, middle and even a bit of the middle left.

Trump just represents a broader party vs simply moving the party one way or another. To reiterate that point, those clamoring for a more conservative leader of the party need to realize that likely, almost certainly, SHRINKS the party. Particularly if the Dems rebound from the left post.

Bold prediction, Mamdani loses.

Cuomo is going to be the one who fumbles twice and throws 3 interceptions and wins because the other team couldn't manage the clock in the final minutes.

We will see what happens. My money is on Mamdani being elected mayor. People of New York City are that stupid and this will be enjoyable to watch.

People in New York, particularly the lifers, are stupid for not realizing what they are facing and get off their duffs to go vote.

Things get really wicked in these big cities when off cycle mayor races have voting participation in the 20s or lower.

But agree with you, they deserve that they get.

I am torn. I want Mamdani as it is helpful to keep front and center how radical the Ds are. On the other hand, the largest city in our Country being run by a socialist from a radical jihadist family is probably not ideal for anyone.

Agreed. I know a few people whose kids have moved from Texas to New York after graduating college in the last ~5 years. The kids have conservative parents, but are all extremely liberal. Several are gay. They'll gladly sacrifice their freedom to a Marxist Islamist. They just aren't smart enough to understand it.

Sliwa simply has no chance.

If Cuomo dropped out, while a small percentage of his voters would go with Sliwa, most would vote for the Muslim commie and the rest would simply not vote.

If NYC was 50-50 or even 60/40 D/R then Sliwa would likely win in a two way race against the commie. Unfortunately it isn't and no one with a R by their name has any hope of winning.

Despite the civil war, they all still vote and sitll vote blue. It's amazing how democrats stick together when it comes to voting (including congress).

This just isn't the case for the most part. Rinos talked a big game but ended up working with Dems to pass all kinds of terrible laws. In actual governance, Trump has moved most things to the right, or at least towards the right. Roe v Wade would still be the law of the land under Bush/Romney Republican leadership.

I'll concede that conservatives like myself have moved Left on some social issues but that had little to do with Trump.

Yes, long before Trump I moved left on legalizing weed and gay marriage. I would wager most of us did who moved left on those two issues.

Obviously, I'm now second guessing the latter position because it was a gateway drug for trans insanity that has destroyed children.

I'm also less gung-ho with legalizing weed although I still mostly have no issues with it. My only caveat with that one is that we ban smoking it in public and I don't really care if that is hypocritical at all.

Read the room.

Democrats are losing BIG on several issues.

I just read today that Same Sex marriage support is collapsing. It will be below 50% in the next 3-5 years.

From the same guy that said if you were pro 2nd amendment, pro life and pro traditional marriage you were not welcome in New York?!?

He is not moderate, he is spineless. Cuomo feels the pendulum swinging and is adjusting to stay on the teet. He would be lock step (we have seen it from him before) with the crazy if he felt it was his best chance to stay employed. Coward. So many spineless cowards "leading" this country. Scary stuff...

Agree. Generally, more like a flinch than a move in my experience and almost always social issues. Been happening for the better part of 2 decades now.

I think you're badly misreading the makeup of NYC right now. There are a lot of turned off people but the activated ones are hard core leftists. Cuomo is going to lose this with the commie getting in the high 40% range. No run offs in NYC so he'll be the next mayor. I wouldn't be surprised to see an exodus of 10-20% of the NYPD too. Which won't help things.

I think the slightly less bold, but more likely, prediction is that Zohran spends NYC into an even bigger hole, jacks up crime even while fiddling with reporting and then gets pushed out by Hochul in a desperate attempt not to let the collapse of NYC bankrupt New York State.

This is why support is waning. Growing perception is: When you "let people alone to do what they want with their own lives" you do not always receive the same respect in return. In fact, you are demonized for drawing a line at any point down the slippery slope to insanity.

This is human nature and the reason everyone knows "give em an inch, they take a mile" and "thats why we cant have nice things".

New York City is being stretched to the proverbial mile as we type.

The truth is, there's a quiet civil war going on in the Democratic Party right now. You have an extreme left, radical left: Bernie Sanders, AOC, Mamdani is just the banner carrier for that movement. Versus the mainstream, moderate Democrats. They now call me moderate. They used to call me liberal. Now I'm a moderate because the whole party shifted. And that's what this election is about. It's that civil war. I believe that far-left will destroy the Democratic Party. I believe it will destroy the Democratic party nationwide if that far-left becomes dominant.

No, Cuomo is still a far left progressive. The AOC wing are insane communists.

NYC is going to elect Mamdani and they deserve him. That applies not just for the idiots that will vote for him, but to those who won't as well. The first deserves it for obvious reasons. the second deserves it because when faced with a socialist crisis, they decided "hey let's all rally behind a guy who killed a bunch of senior citizens during covid and then was forced to resign because he couldn't stop sexually harassing people."

Cuomo is the platonic ideal of irreperably damaged goods and those idiots chose him. They deserve to be punished for their stupidity.

It already has, Luke. It already has.

The Republican party has shifted left during this whole process as well.

Yes, today's republicans are yesterday's democrats. Gone are the days of actual fiscal responsibility, smaller government, etc.
