It also helps Melei in the elections which is in the best interest of America. And since it's Trump, he's asking banks and others to match our efforts.

Let's interject some facts missing from the OP. This is not "aid" or in any way "giving" Argentina $20 billion. The initial $20 billion is a a credit swap facility designed to stabilize the Argentine peso.

The additional $20 billion would be provided by private banks and sovereign funds (not US, but I need to confirm). And it's likely contingent on there continuing to be a stable, capitalist democracy being in control of the Argentinian government. That's a good thing.

But if one just googles, you get a variety of Newsweek, The Hill and… wait for it… PBS articles saying Trump wants to double US assistance to Argentina to $40 billion with no mention of the details. Just "Orange Man wants to Give Argentine Man $40 billion to be best friend".
