It could be many reasons, including not caring who they shot, not hitting their intended target, intentionally aiming at detainees. Too early to know.

Some other potential factors. Maybe he was getting impatient. It was now daylight. How long had he been waiting? There was some weather in the area, maybe it started raining. Maybe he believed he had been spotted.

Can you imagine thinking you were gonna go kill some fascist ICE agents to protect the poor immigrants and you instead ONLY hit the people you wanted to protect? If that really is the case, there is a chance he didn't intend to kill himself and instead did so out of guilt.

The Citizen app has a picture of unspent shell casings where the only visible message on it literally has "ANTI-ICE" written on it. That is so on the nose that it's weird.
