This guy is definitely a tenured professor. Took 2,500 words to make his point while the normal person would do it in three sentences.

One of the things I loved about getting my Poli Sci degree when I did was I honestly didn't know whether most of my profs were conservative or liberal. They encouraged open discussion and reading different viewpoints. Had one class where I first learned about Thomas Sowell and the next book was Noam Chomsky. Profs encouraged open discussion and played devils advocate on both sides or just let the students talk. I learned how to think critically. Of course had a few profs that were obvious lefties but most were not, those classes were so boring by comparison. I remember a prof in 1990 who said that Reagan had very little to do with ending the Cold War for instance and I just looked at him for the idiot with a PhD that he was.

This guy doesn't want to have kids learn how to think for themselves. He wants to push his own worldview and feel like his feelings are more important than teaching. He sure as hell doesn't want critical thinking or people that actively disagree with him. Most of all his self important opinion is beyond tiresome.

Academics and college students….

Both of these groups are largely out of touch with reality.

For most of them, their entire adult life has taken place on a college campus.

Dear Professor,

For most of the last 20-30 years, most academia, media, left politicians, Hollywood, coastal elites, etc. have been calling the center right conservatives in this country a myriad of names clinging to their "God guns and religion" and that we are a "threat to democracy" and on and on and on.

Sorry, but we have had enough and just because we don't want to call someone by their preferred gender name or we don't want our kids exposed to sexual information in elementary school, or have to allow immigrants into our country that have absolutely NO intent to assimilate to our culture, but if we don't accept their culture, we are called racists, etc.

And if we don't have to hear everyday how we are "racists" by the left and everyone else because we don't agree affirmative action or reparations, etc. than maybe we would be more tolerant now to accept your beliefs.

Either way, we don't give a damn what you think we are entitled to. We would rather you just teach us whatever subject you are supposed to, and just accept the nice salary and tenure you have and if you don't like it, move on. We have absolute freedom in this country.

If this professor had such a powerful point to make that would profoundly persuade us all, why couldn't he/she/it sign their name to it.

It is "blind, dismissive hate of all concerns (especially those of students… fellow Aggies)" to hold faculty and staff accountable for adhering to curriculum and avoiding politicial indoctrination? The scramble from leftists to frame this as right wing intolerance is fascinating.

So, he's leaving because he can't teach that dudes are not really dudes, if they don't "feel" like a dude? Or a girl is not a girl if they don't "feel" like a girl?

LMAO!! Poor guy.

Remember, leftists use language to deceive (a storied tradition that their leader began in a garden). When taop says "highest quality education" he doesn't mean "maximizing individual capability" or "set up for personal and communal success" or "ROI" like you or I might. Those are silly meritocratic ideas.

Instead read it as "strongest addition to my political team" and you can understand why leftists are up in arms at the mere whisper that conservatives would take back a modicum of THEIR institutions of subversion.

The panda will never share the vulture's definition of "quality."

I am pretty sure if you downloaded enough professor's published work you could you use ai to figure out who it is based upon their writing style.

ChatGPT provided some counterpoints to the letter. I think points 1 and 5 are quite relevant given what transpired during the previous administration and how many conservative students were afraid to speak up.

1. Universities Have Always Been Political Arenas
  • Critics might say the professor is presenting something old as if it were new.
  • Higher ed has always been shaped by politics (funding battles, loyalty oaths, desegregation orders, Cold War research priorities).
  • Instead of sounding an alarm about a sudden crisis, some might argue this is simply the ongoing reality of publicly funded institutions.
2. Accountability Isn't Automatically "Political Meddling"
  • Legislators and taxpayers fund state universities, so they see themselves as stakeholders.
  • Demands for curriculum changes, hiring practices, or fiscal priorities can be framed as oversight rather than oppression.
  • Some would argue that if universities resist too strongly, they risk being seen as "ivory towers" disconnected from the public that pays for them.
3. Academic Freedom vs. Institutional Neutrality
  • The professor highlights threats to academic freedom. Counterpoint: shouldn't institutions remain politically neutral while individuals enjoy academic freedom?
  • Critics may argue universities often fail at neutrality, promoting certain ideologies under the banner of scholarship, which invites political pushback.
4. Students as Agents of Change or Pawns?
  • The letter exhorts students to rise up, but some could say this risks turning students into foot soldiers in facultypolitics battles.
  • Opponents might argue students should focus on learning, not being mobilized for campus activism at the urging of professors.
5. Chilling Effect Is a Two-Way Street
  • The professor warns students are silenced by fear of being recorded or misinterpreted.
  • But some critics would respond: many students (particularly conservative ones) have long felt their speech was chilled on campus by prevailing progressive norms.
  • The current pushback, then, isn't new repression but an attempt to rebalance.
6. Anonymous Critique Lacks Transparency
  • Writing anonymously highlights fear of retaliation but critics may see it as avoiding accountability.
  • If the stakes are as high as claimed, shouldn't faculty leaders take public, principled stands rather than appeal from the shadows?

They should be an agent of change!

science matters - men are men, women are women. Babies are humans, regardless of which side of the womb they are on. Science matters.

Racism is repugnant. Regardless of who is doing it or who it is being done to.

Truth matters. Making crap up to support your philosophy or religion or politics is just dishonesty no matter what your reasons. Lying to children is particularly ugly - and easy. Its why lefties and anonymous professors always go after youth. They can radicalize with half-truths and lies.

Victimhood is a choice. Don't celebrate victimhood. Don't pander to it. Instead encourage being an overcomer.

Faux love is despicable. Don't let hate win. I have never heard the left actually use love in its proper definition.

Its ok to agree to disagree.

Its not ok to not be courageous by letting lefties get away with repugnancy. I AM NOT SUGGESTING VIOLENCE. But I am suggesting pushing back on ideas, pushing back on lies, and understanding that lefties hate you and want you dead.

Anytime a highly paid professional uses the term "serve" or "service" I'm already out. Government employees aren't "serving" ***** You're getting paid to do a job just like anyone. Give me a freaking break.

Maybe he meant it in the same way ranchers refer to bulls "serving" cows. AT&T is not wrong when they say they have been "serving" us for over 100 years, when it is used in that context.

I hate to tell the professor but Universities don't exist to educate students.

They exist to generate Alumni. The ROI on student revenue is abysmal. They have to maintain a multi billion dollar facility base, provide food and housing, staff colleges, and actually teach something.

Alumni revenues are almost all profits, costing little more than a quarterly magazine or banquet invitation.

Weird. No one is suggesting such a thing. Maybe if perverts want to push their sexual kinks, they can found and fund their own school.

There is no right to indoctrinate students with degeneracy on the public dime. Not even sure who would want such a thing. But there we are.

I am suggesting it. Universities are a statist *******ization of a Catholic educational concept that has been coopted to be a government run employment program for absolutely useless yet entitled people. Its a government money funnel, that's it. I assume someone is dumber for having gone to college at this point.

Right. Who needs those pesky know it all doctors who know anatomy and physiology. And engineers who actually know math and physics well enough to make sure loads on buildings and bridges are not too big or in the wrong direction. And airplanes? Yeah they just design themselves.

Yeah. Screw that whole college thing. It's worthless.if you can learn to flip a burger for DQ you can learn to build a 1/2 mile suspension bridge.
