Quote:

My dear American friends,

We British Christians would get excited when, once a year, Queen Elizabeth would make a mild but sincere reference to the love of Jesus Christ in her Christmas address.

In Charlie Kirks' Memorial service, watched by tens of millions, I just heard:

- Multiple clear presentations of the gospel from men like @robmccoyus and @DrFrankTurek
with clear calls to repentance and faith

- Worship songs full of Scripture sung by tens of thousands live and millions at home

- Personal testimonies of lives transformed by the work of Christ and the witness of believers

- Demonstration and explanation of the value of marriage, child-rearing and family

- Calls to Romans 13 for the government to bear the sword for the protection of good and punishment of the wicked

- Declarations of spiritual warfare on the forces of evil and promises to endure no matter the cost

- Calls to be prophets and call the nation to repent

- More Scripture references and Bible readings than I can count

- And a widow publicly forgiving her husband's killer because Christ forgave his killers on the cross.

All of it done before, and by, the most powerful people in your nation and the world.

You guys should be on your knees thanking God for your country. It is a light to the world.

Never stop fighting for it.

Well with that defeatest attitude...

Or be the change.

The way to change it is to have a family with many kids and raise them in the way they should go. That could also mean not sending them to college.

A) It's "purport".

B) Keep voting and quit being a wet blanket to those feeling re-energized. There's a palpable paradigm shift in the zeitgeist. What good do you think being Eeyore does. You're welcome to feel however you'd like but read the room....this thread was neither the time nor the place for such a comment.

Get involved or move somewhere else.
If you say you hate the state of politics in this nation and you don't get involved in it, you obviously don't hate the state of politics in this nation.

I just hope part of the revival includes some significant fixes in the churches of America.
We need more Paul Washers and Voddie Bauchams. Having people getting emotionally roused up by Steven Furtick, Andy Stanley, and Todd White does no good.

What's wrong with Andy Stanley?????

I have started listening to his podcast during the week to keep my mind and spirit grounded and he has been pretty inspiring to me of late. I find his messages very applicable in the daily grind. Not aligned to a tee with my church but it's a positive message nonetheless.

There is research showing that Gen Z males attend weekly religious services more often than Millenials.

Historically women have been more religious than men, but this gap is rapidly closing. Some research shows that Gen Z males are more religious than Gen Z females.

This trend is happening in other countries as well.

I first really noticed Gen Z this summer. Our intern was a great dude and already crushing it. Aggie, prez of his student group (frat), felt like I was talking to a 30 year old all summer. Having got to know him and some of his friends well, I noticed when thinking back to myself and my peers at his age.

-way more health conscious
-less booze
-more religious
-purpose driven/intentionality

Being mid millennial age, it is a breath of fresh air imho.

Agree with most of the posts here. I am def seeing the Holy Spirit working on my peers as well.

That never looked likely actually. It was clear as early as 2002 it was ephemeral. And W started off one the wrong foot from the start with "is peaceful" line. Caliphs wouldn't say that. Its misunderstanding what they feel submission brings.

With all due respect, now is not the time to debate theology. Let the Spirit work. Unity not division.

Why don't we pray the revival also runs through the church!

I am all for it!

In my opinion, this is not the time to debate Calvinism/Reformed vs other Protestants, Catholic vs Protestant, etc.

it is not the time to demand "right" theological beliefs except for the simple Gospel. Let the Holy Spirit work.

conservative purity tests are incredibly counter-productive. Agreed.

Truth be told the Republican Party doesn't exemplify Christianity. Maybe it's less wicked than the left but it's just the compromise party. Which Jesus warns against a double minded man or a compromised man.

I've heard several Republican congressmen consistently reference gospel & their faith. I've yet to hear any Dem congressman do it. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I do agree with you in that government in no way equals Christianity, on either side. Especially when both sides are funding wars.

That said, the radicals are taking over their party and the more of them get elected, the more we just outright lose our country. Could you imagine what a party full of elected officials the likes of Liz Warren, Ilhan Omar, AOC, Walz, that blue haired freak from Connecticut, etc would do to our country with control of all branches of our government? Scary AF to think about.

We got a strong hint the past four years, and the message was clear: National divorce and break-up will have to remain in serious consideration. Texas as Republic on the ballot, etc, are all possible responses. After today, that seems alot less likely to be needed. If was a Marxist agitator would kind of worried.

Marco was amazing.

When was the last time you heard politicians preach and share the gospel publicly?

Not a generic reference to God, which can be interpreted by many religions as acceptable, but actually share and preach the gospel of Jesus Christ?

I've NEVER heard it, and yet TODAY I heard it for hours on end from almost all of the most senior leaders of our government.

THAT, my friends, is a miracle.

THAT is God moving.

It certainly was. And if Russia is even half-way serious about wanting to confront evil from a Christian perspective, they need to start looking at meeting Trump half-way and take advantage of that.

Rubio was amazing in the Florida house as a young man. He stumbled pretty bad in his first term in the US Senate. He has steadily learned and modified in his time since. He is truly an asset to the GOP.

If you've ever doubted whether or not God can use evil for good, to glorify Himself, this entire event for Charlie Kirk is a very direct affirmation.

Finally, people are recognizing publicly what the REAL difference is between us and the left, and claiming Jesus as our foundation.

Naming HIM in public, and in front of millions.

I think we are really privileged to be witnessing this.

We are in the midst of an actual revival in our country.

This is incredible.

The leaders of our country are claiming the gospel of Christ in front of millions of people. Unashamedly.

I've never seen anything like this.

The Holy Spirit is moving BOLDLY

There's been more talk of Jesus in the public sphere this last 11 days than in the last 11 years.

Jesus did not come to unify. He came to divide those that would believe and those that would not. You cannot escape judgment.

However, context matters, and I understand what you mean. We need to be united in an ecumenical sense.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

So change has occurred from this tragedy. Even if one soul is saved. Maybe try a "glass half full" approach. It will make you feel so much better.

I'm happy that more people are attending church. My small church was noticeably fuller than it has been in the past few months. My question is - Why does this have to be the tragedy? Why weren't people attending church more frequently after any school shooting or mass shooting? Why does it have to be a celebrity that gets people going?

Seems like you had a fantastic opportunity to pose these questions to the new or infrequent parishioners you mention.

Do your part. Ask them and report back.
