I wouldn't be surprised if there winds up being a carve-out or tax exception that allows employers to deduct the increase in labor cost.

You don't understand, college is not to learn to code. It is to learn to solve problems. Coding is just one way. I have 2 grad degrees and one of them is from A&M. Another is a Top 3 school. I learned how to solve problems there which I apply to new problems.

Coding can be learned through Youtube for free,

I hope he becomes a CEO some day. But a good humane one. The type who thinks long term and not "greed is good". Not laying off people just to make a bonus. If my son does not turn out that way, I will have failed as a parent.

So when you see an H1B walking around, you will be sure that his company paid $100k for his ass to be there. Doesn't matter how many years. A 6 year H1B will cost $600k.

I might get my neighborhood back??? This is great news! Built a house in a very good school district in 2021 and the very next year nearly 90% of the buyers turned Indian ("cultural" as the builders have to say). They have been coming in for for 3 years. It's crazy. My kids brand new elementary school is over 75% indian. It's a **** show. I've heard this is very common throughout parts of Texas. I hope this does something to change that. I don't want my kids learning Hindi at school so they can understand their substitute teachers.

I like the idea except the unintended consequence might be to make H1B visa holders indentured servants until they earn it back.

Innovation? LMBO! I work in a department with 17 developers, 14 of which are Indians, they don't innovate crap. Too busy maintaining and upgrading the App we have for monthly scheduled releases. And, fixing their own screwups from previous releases because a lot of them barely speak English and live thousands of miles away, need training, and we don't have time.

What innovation? The only way my company can get new clients now has been to pay billions to acquire other smaller companies and move their clients onto our system. Not because of any awesome new products.

I am discussing this with a few of my Indian acquaintances. Their claim is that innovation will suffer, the US will suffer overall, tech "talent" will go to Canada, UK, China, Aus, India etc as they are unwelcome in the US.

I said they should be happy since this amazing tech talent can go back to India and create the next big Microsoft, Amazon, Google, OpenAI etc etc.

They didn't seem too thrilled though. Wonder why.
