It turns off large market segments and that affects potential business partners, advertisers, customers, etc. they can see the matket turning against them for alternatives and that is a very economically threatening situation for a platform that relies on user base to draw in and maintain users. Pretty much every hobby forum will eventually get around to discussing things like price inflation and the impact of tariffs on that particular hobby. Even if you tried to remain neutral (and are even anti-tariff like me), if you are even the slightest bit pro-market, pro-business, and/or talk about economics in a logical way you will usually get downvoted or moderated.

And then there are the LGBTQ moderators who liberally encourage and protect leftist posts in their hobby forums as well.
