Central Paris is fine. If you take the train to/from CDG airport you absolutely will see the filth in the outer districts.

Was there in April and saw this on the train to the airport. It's a 40 minute plus ride in the morning.

I visited in 2023. It was pretty good, I did not find Islamics doing their thing, Parisians were not as rude as I had expected,I did not get my pocket picked. Women don't seem to like wearing bras.

All in all, nice place.

Exact opposite of what friends have told me that visited.

I'd rather go back to Boise, Idaho. Such a clean, beautiful place with great bars and restaurants. And Everyone there spoke English. The Boise River and their college campus were great.

The French have us beat when it comes to food, and it's not close. This is a wall of butter at Le Grande Epicure in Paris.

I didn't see any homelessness in the inner districts in Paris when I was there in June. I did see a little when I got to the outer burbs, but nothing worse than any city in the US.

What about the whole snail eating thing?

Gross to look at but absolutely delicious!

Did you sample the horse meat when you were there?

Can't say I had any horse meat in France, but I did have andouillette in Reims. Wasn't terrible, but likely won't seek it out again.

Potempkin village? i'm guessing you've never been to Paris or anywhere else in Europe. Tourist or not heard it into areas and can go anywhere they wish. You put forth a false narrative. Please tell me about your experiences in Europe as I doubt they exist.

Page 2, you might enjoy my insight for never having been to Europe and the pics from that trip.

So many ppl just believe whatever aligns with their worldview - that which has been orchestrated by whatever media they consume. It rarely, if ever, aligns with reality. I've been in Europe several times over the past few years. Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, Finland.

Not one of them comes close to touching the homeless ****holes in the U.S. like parts of Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Fran, etc

I've been to all of those except for Spain and I agree with you. I was just in Finland in March. A lot of of it is over sensationalized and what people want you to see. I never felt unsafe in any of them. Even Russia in 2012. But I am very concerned with the influx of Muslims and migrants though.

I did try a reindeer steak and honestly, it was very good. Very tender. Very different taste than beef steak but good.

I thought they were disgusting to taste too. And France has an issue with very rare meat. I do not like rare meat. And the sauces are very very rich. Not a fan of the French food.

Now Italian food on the other hand Yum!

Part of that is a lot of their beef isn't grain finished to the extent it is in the US, so they cook it rarer. That being said, they still like dry-aged steaks, and the prices are comparable to here.

Paris only recently turned "blue"? Hmmm, I didn't realize that their liberal viewpoints and policies are new and haven't been that way for decades.

First visit was in 94

Stayed at a little place near Gare Du Nord

wonderful time

Stopped into a Parisian bar and a local sat us down to teach me and a friend about wine, then wouldn't let us pay

the local trains were kinda gross(strong Urine stench)

the people were great, the sites were great

2nd visit in 98

walked the same area near Gare Du Nord

tried to find another hotel

areas previously Parisian in nature were now Muslim

Hotels I walked were rundown and smelled terrible. Walked upstairs having to avoid a large hole in the stairs and very uninviting tenants.

Ended up returning to the hotel I stayed during my first trip

The Hotel Little Regina, no central air and communal bathroom per floor at the time

sites were mostly the same, people seemed similar, it was a week after the World Cup

Only traveled through there without stopping since

I visited Copenhagen in the late 90s. and then again just a few years later. Similar experience.

My wife and I visited for a few days in February, when the crowds were somewhat lessened. The ride in to our hotel nearish the Louvre was interesting- lots of graffiti, crazy motorcyclists (standard through Europe). The weather wasn't bad, and we did a lot of the tourist things. We walked a lot in that area and while we saw lots of foreigners (Chinese being predominant) there wasn't too much filth, and though my head was on a swivel (mainly concerned with pickpockets) I never felt in danger. The sidewalk kitsch peddlers seemed to be mainly sub-Saharan Africans making communications difficult (my French and theirs seemed roughly equivalent- bad).

Our favorite cafe was run by a Middle Easterner and he was very cool. The Parisians themselves were very accommodating (to my surprise). There were definitely homeless folks sleeping in front of shops, but no one tried to panhandle or demonstrate mental illness (looking at you, Seattle and San Fran).

As an aside, I had been to Paris probably 30 years ago and while there weren't as many foreigners then, there were a lot of military types around with machine guns present, and I did see one bomb disposal man fully suited up then.

TLDR- in the tourist areas we visited, many foreigners present, never felt threatened. Would go back.

Yep, a pretty solid place. Just got back from the river on another beautiful Idaho day. Hard to beat.

Cleanest and safest city of its size I've ever been to. It's hard to drive through Oregon and Washington on my way up to coeur D'alene, as it feels like back in California. Dirty, ugly, and dangerous. Glad that that literally stops at the border.

Going next month, I'll report back

I have been planning a few months trip to Europe summer 2026 but did not want to fly to Paris for this exact reason.

the muslim invasion is nearly complete.

F@#$ the French.

I would just fly to London to do research for a book then get out of there as quickly as possible and Eurostar to Cologne then drive to Berlin and Prague.

Americans should be traveling to Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Italy.

Fantastic North African restaurants there. Here's a helpful list to know where to go:

Been to Paris twice with my wife and each time we stayed for about 2 weeks (most recently was March of 2024). Each visit was great. We were always told how dirty the city was, how rude the people were, etc.

But honestly, it was pretty clean each time we visited. I was a little surprised by that. Not sure if the 2024 visit had to do with the Olympics, but even our other visit was pretty clean too. I was also expecting to see rats all over the place because that's what I had heard, but I saw one rat total both times we went. I've seen more at Cole Park in Corpus Christi.

The parts we were in, there wasn't a big homeless population. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but it wasn't rampant where we were.

And as for the people, the rudeness is overblown. We know a few phrases in French and that helped. They seemed to appreciate us trying to speak the language (same thing in Japan and Prague). Most people in the shops/stores/wherever spoke English or enough to help. So, never had any issues with that.
There was some side eye on metros whenever some was talking on the phone. Also whenever a group of people were yelling loudly on the streets and generally just being obnoxious. No one was in our face about being American or for speaking English.

Overall, it's a great city. It's somewhere we'll visit again, but other countries have definitely taken over "must visit again ASAP" for us.
