There's a religious element to that as well, it just can't be ignored. Notice a significant number of anti-Israel posters here have Latin usernames. There is a portion of Catholics that hate that Israel exists because they believe they have replaced Israel and the existence of an Israeli state is an affront to their beliefs, and in a way, to God. That is why they have sympathy for Islam in the region, because they both agree on that point.

Yeah, I'm not really discussing those who have always hated Israel and Jews in America long before these past few years. I have no tolerance for any kind of racism or bigotry, full stop.

I'm talking about the younger generations, who are more and more secular than religious in their views. They haven't been raised to hate Jews or Israel. The only reason they're hating Israel is because of what they're seeing happening every day on social media.

Which is exactly the problem. They are being fed outrage porn by grifters who are only doing it for views, so their only exposure to what's happening is carefully curated to generate the most reaction. This is why my point of their views changing when they grow up and join the real world holds.

Lol yeah dude there are no legitimate criticisms of Israel and all these young whippersnappers need to grow up. By the way do you happen to have a defense for their elected leader here?

The citizens of Israel are good honest people. The citizens of the United States are good honest people. The citizens of Iran are good honest people.

The government of Israel is corrupt and evil. The government of the United States is corrupt and evil. The government of Iran is corrupt and evil.

You don't have to be an islamophobe or an antisemite to know what the problem is in every single Country. Shrink all governments to the foundation, nothing good comes from any of them.

I don't agree with it but I understand it. The guy was in prison here for 30 years and was leaking information about their enemies (including terrorist training camps) in an effort to help Israel. You're surprised he was welcomed back by the country he was trying to help? If one of our CIA assets was captured in Israel for spying on our behalf, served a punishment for it, and then was returned to the US I wouldn't want Trump would do the same thing, but it wouldn't be shocking.

You cannot be serious with this take. Our "allies" should not be stealing our nuclear secrets and they definitely should not be trading these secrets with the Soviet Union. Pollard should have been hanged, not celebrated.

Agreed.

Social media is nothing but outrage pron.

Their views will change, but in the case of Israel, I think only to a degree. The post Bibi administrations will have to make up a lot of lost good will that's just been a given to them. Going forward, like every other country, they'll have to earn it.

Don't forget that is one of their favorite reasons the so called "christian" antisemites toss out.

They ignore the fact that Jesus had to die, and even though he asked God if there was another way, he went along with it willingly, knowing what he would have to endure.

Also, the Romans killed Jesus.

I'd like the federal government to be abolished or at least reduced by 90%. Something closer to what the founding fathers intended instead of what they revolted against.

And yes, during the coming economic catastrophe something drastic will happen, although with you folks on team blue and team red in charge it probably will lead to totalitarianism before anarchy.

I'm not an alt-right racist or whatever you think I am.

What are you talking about? There's no evidence of either of those things happening. He leaked information about the countries that have been trying to annihilate Israel for decades (who also happen to be our enemies as well).

You definitely don't know the facts about this case then. The Israelis flipped stolen information with the soviets in exchange for permitting the emigration of Soviet Jews to Israel. You're about 30 years behind on the news lol

Feel free to provide any verifiable evidence or facts of this happening.

Google it, this is common knowledge and was all over the news in the 1990s.

My brief search this morning said that there were rumors but no evidence of anything and no verified reports from US intelligence, even saying it's an example of a rumor that's been repeated online long enough that some take it as fact.

If you have actual evidence of Israel leaking nuclear secrets to the Soviets feel free to share. Seems like if it's "common knowledge", it wouldn't be hard to provide.

Here I'll spoonfeed you

https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1999/01/18/the-traitor

Thanks. Article is paywalled so I asked Grok to summarize and had a few follow ups.

On the specific point of whether or not Israel traded the nuclear secrets, it seems like Hersh was mostly speculating.

Quote:

Broader Damage and Soviet Leak Concerns:
Material likely reached the Soviets via Israeli trade (for Jewish emigrants) or penetration of Israeli services.
Quotes from William Casey (CIA Director) and others suspecting this.
Impact on U.S. recruitment of sources and trust with allies.
Verification: This is the most speculative part. Hersh notes officials had no smoking gun (no direct documents proving the transfer), relying on inference from the material's utility to the Soviets, known Israeli-Soviet dynamics at the time, and penetrations (e.g., Shabtai Kalmanovitch). The CIA damage assessment focuses more on direct harm to U.S. capabilities and Israeli tasking (primarily Arab/Soviet/Pakistani targets, not U.S. plans). Officials have long suspected secondary dissemination but couldn't prove Israeli-Soviet bartering. It remains a point of contention

And on the "nuclear secrets" part:

Quote:

Is there evidence that Pollard leaked any nuclear secrets?

No, there is no credible public or declassified evidence that Jonathan Pollard leaked U.S. nuclear weapons secrets, arsenal details, capabilities, designs, or related sensitive American nuclear information.

What part of "I don't agree with it" equals me saying it's ok? Again, he was spying on behalf of Israel and leaking information to them about Israel's enemies (who btw are also our enemies). So it would certainly make sense that Israel would be happy to have him back. The anti-Israel twitter grifters love to attempt to frame it like he was sending locations of American nuclear subs in real time or something but that's not the case.

And you're naive if you don't think we have spies in countries all over the world, including our allies, sending information back to us. And that I'm fully in support of.

I think anybody who betrays our nation should be hanged and I don't trust anybody who would support said person. That includes AIPAC's biggest donor who flew this person back to Israel and the PM who was waiting to celebrate him. No country that relies on trillions of dollars in US taxpayer money to guarantee their existence should be openly spying on us, and they definitely shouldn't be demanding the release of said Spy as a negotiation tactic. If you want our money you listen to us.

The US has not given "trillions of dollars" to Israel, hyperbole seems unnecessary here.

And yes, and as predicted there was zero actual evidence that Israel leaked the information on purpose to the Russians as you claimed, just speculation. And also zero evidence of US nuclear secrets being included, as you also claimed. It's clear your inherent bias against Israel has clouded your ability to understand the difference between facts and speculation. Hersh admits as much:

Quote:

The officials stressed the fact that they had no hard evidence -- no "smoking gun," in the form of a document from an Israeli or a Soviet archive -- to demonstrate the link between Pollard, Israel, and the Soviet Union, but they also said that the documents that Pollard had been directed by his Israeli handlers to betray led them to no other conclusion.

The general theme seems to be that it's more likely any information Russia potentially obtained was through their own spying.

"High-level suspicions about Israeli-Soviet collusion were expressed as early as December, 1985, a month after Pollard's arrest, when William J. Casey, the late C.I.A. director, who was known for his close ties to the Israeli leadership, stunned one of his station chiefs by suddenly complaining about the Israelis breaking the "ground rules." The issue arose when Casey urged increased monitoring of the Israelis during an otherwise routine visit, I was told by the station chief, who is now retired. "He asked if I knew anything about the Pollard case," the station chief recalled, and he said that Casey had added, "For your information, the Israelis used Pollard to obtain our attack plan against the U.S.S.R. all of it. The coordinates, the firing locations, the sequences. And for guess who? The Soviets." (boldface mine - Ronin)Casey had then explained that the Israelis had traded the Pollard data for Soviet emigres. "How's that for cheating?" he had asked."

I cannot imagine coping this hard for a convicted traitor.

Lol - pointing out your blatant lies and exaggerations is now "coping for a traitor." Maybe next time just use facts instead of immediately believing everything you hear on Tucker's podcast because it fits your weird existing hatred of Israel.

ETA - and in literally the next paragraph:

Quote:

In subsequent interviews, former C.I.A. colleagues of Casey's were unable to advance his categorical assertion significantly. Duane Clarridge, then in charge of clandestine operations in Europe, recalled that the C.I.A. director had told him that the Pollard material "goes beyond just the receipt in Israel of this stuff." But Casey, who had many close ties to the Israeli intelligence community, hadn't told Clarridge how he knew what he knew. Robert Gates, who became deputy C.I.A. director in April, 1986, told me that Casey had never indicated to him that he had specific information about the Pollard material arriving in Moscow. "The notion that the Russians may have gotten some of the stuff has always been a viewpoint," Gates said, but not through the bartering of emigres. "The only view I heard expressed was that it was through intelligence operations" -- the K.G.B.

Nice job ignoring the quotation. Hey if you want to bury your head in the sand and keep kissing a foreign nation's ass thats your choice. I can lead you to water but I can't force you to drink.

Also "y-you just hate Israel and watch Tucker" is more cope, please try harder next time.

Check the edit. No one was able to validate or corroborate his claims, otherwise it obviously would have been a much bigger story.

And it's not cope if it's factual. The good news is that we as a country will continue supporting Israel as a key ally in the region while people like you waste a bunch of time being mad about it on the internet. At least Tucker and Candace are getting paid for their work.

Thankfully the people in charge are rational enough to know that blowing up a key strategic regional relationship because of one issue is not in the best interest of the US.

Looking forward to bumping this in a decade or so when our relationship with Israel is basically the same because the people that hate Israel will never actually have any political power. I'm sure they'll still be complaining about it online though.
