I guess they missed all of the guns owned by the cartels in Mexico.

I would have plenty of gun save room for my firearms if my wife and oldest daughter would get their crappy jewelry boxes out of my gun safe!!!
I've told them we need another "gun safe".
My younger brother (just moved out of Minnesota to South Dakota) is building a new house.
He sent me a picture of a sign, "You are now leaving Minnesota. Is it something we taxed?"
Don't know but his past two houses have had gun rooms with jail doors to the "gun room".
I told him to put in a "safe room" as SD can have some horrific tornados.
It is a long way to get the county sheriff to get there.

"safe" not "save"

… but I've said that many times

The number of firearms you need is always N+1.

Those are just the ones they know about!

Bingo

Not everyone purchases their firearms from a gun store. Many people prefer legal, private transactions. Others have guns they purchased or inherited from their parents/family.

Also, if some company is calling people to do a survey about gun ownership, who in the right mind would tell the random person on the phone that they own guns?

I feel the same way about luxury watches and guns.

Israel should be 100% and open carry. They have all been through the army and know what they are doing.

45.7 per 100

according to AI
That sounds about right. I've seen at least a hundred reports of fishing accidents on this site alone.

Yeah I have around 50 myself. I cannot even conceive a visual of how someone wouldn't own at least 5.

Can't believe South Korea is at the bottom. The fact that NK is a constant threat, I'd think they would embrace an armed citizenry.

May i ask what part of SD? I whitetail hunt in Southern Central SD every year. This will be my 26th consecutive year and have grown very fond of that area.

Winner, Gregory, Ideal, Chamberlain vicinity.

It took a while before my son came around to get his permit. Still working on SIL. Daughter had a scare in an HEB parking lot where perp after harrassing her there tailed her around NE San Antonio for a while until SIL entercepted . Now she carries, and shoots well. I think she traded her Kimber for a Hellcat.

That's 5 right there, and I'm not through with all the rooms in the house yet….

Car
Office
Home defense long gun
Carry piece
Wife's carry piece

Since I own my own business I would also need a office defense long gun.

So 6 is the absolute minimum for me, but an average dude should have at least 4 and if married 5.

Statistics derived from the number of guns lost in boating accidents.

5 is a minimum and frankly, random number. If you understood the purpose of the 2nd Amendment and took it's charge seriously, you would have many more than that for all of the various scenarios that might come into play and then multiply that for all of the friends, family, and neighbors you might need to arm in the process.

One gun for "self-defense" is inadequate because there are many situations in which you might find yourself needing defense. Consider the range and number of your targets and what the environment might be. Close quarters? Urban density? Open fields? No one gun is best for all of these factors.
The best way to keep evil men from wielding great power is to not create great power in the first place.

I have nothing against anyone owning a gun or as many as they wish as long as they are responsible gun owners and citizens. Just wondering where 5 came from. We have 4 in our safe.

The house I bought had a walk-in gun closet. Gotta fill that up.
