Every $1 spent on border security has the opportunity to save us $100 over the next few decades

Walls, razor wire, snipers, and more staff for deportations.

All have huge ROI

It's always been this way. Popeye told us in 1980.

My bad for being off on the memory considering it's dumb that I have to respond to such child-like behavior. It was closer to his drop out date when many rightists here argued he should stay in office to make the Dems easier to beat. Among other posts:

To respond to the rest of your posts: I'm not going to sit here and search for every post I've ever made critical of the left. That's just moving goal posts. It will never end because you'll always what about and want more. You can't treat me with respect… I owe you nothing.

Let's not forget that I've consistently said President Trump deserves respect if for no other reason than he's POTUS. I said the same about President Biden. I loathe how some of the left treats President Trump, even though he eggs some of it on with his rambling. I highly doubt you said the same about the the outlier right.

To change your wording a bit, and honestly I'm just assuming this is what you're thinking anyway....

We need charity.

We need to incentivize charity.

What we don't need, via socialism, is to claim ownership of people's productive output in order to command their actions and aims. Socialism is driven by the seizure of someone's right to choose how they use their gifts...that, to any degree, is going to disincentivize charity.

We've built a system that is so apt to claim ownership of peoples' efforts and wealth that it has destroyed the desire in many to be charitable. "Why be charitable when they are going to take it anyway?"

If you meant socialism, my bad. Forget what I typed.

Charity is choosing to sacrifice your own interests to benefit someone in need.

The lack of charity is why so many wealthy people go full on communist in their voting behaviors. It alleviates their sense of guilt to give away other people's money to make them feel like a better person, and they aren't truly willing to give away their own.

You just described the self serving emotional impetus that drives most of the left.

Yup. My career gives me exposure to a very high number of both high income and high net worth individuals. It takes about 5 minutes to figure out which ones are truly charitable and which ones are all about pretense, not the sacrifice part.

And there is a very clear and strong correlation along political lines.

The cuts were postponed for two years until after the mid-terms. That is a brilliant move politically. It also allows the leftist journalists to blow their wad attacking the bill now and then nothing happens for two years. They will lose credibility.
Which explains why the bill is not serious about controlling spending.
Or you have to allow sufficient time for people to search for employment and for the USG to have a management plan in place to check on employment and properly supervise the intended purpose of the bill. You can't implement a plan you are not yet prepared to provide proper oversight and you have to create a fair timeline for an employment search.

So what are the things that will change the most for us, the average citizen and consumer from this bill?

How will our lives change?

Honestly looking for a comprehensive answer, not snark.
Sorry, just saw this.

1. Gets a ton of illegals out of the country and off entitlements which saves you money unless you are in business and use illegals to do your work.
2. Does NOT massively increase your taxes. EVERYONE will benefit from this.
3. While there is spending to pay for severance for government workers, the long term savings of getting rid of those is a net positive. This is why much of the DOGE findings have not been implemented. There won't be savings in the near term.
4. Makes people work to receive Medicaid, which saves you money
5. There is also a provision for change in tax code for businesses to be able to expense more of their capital investment/construction for new factories. Don't know what that will do for most of us.

Mike Johnson says there's more bills to come which will hopefully address more spending cuts. The OBBB got Trump's agenda put in place for helping to boost the economy, increasing our defense and securing our border.

So they will narrowly pass the House and die in the Senate.

that's the plan. The difficulty in applying and maintaining coverage will do more to get people off Medicaid than any work requirements. See what happened in Georgia.

I could treat you with respect. But, making posts like you did makes it hard to do.

HOWEVER, I'll assume you're old like me and misremember things like I do from time to time.

So, I'll do a level set and start over with my view on you.

Fair enough?
