Learn to shoot.
Nice shooting, what distance?
That's my spread from about 20 feet with optics, why do you ask
Post it.

I meant a rifle w/ optics. From the bench... With no wind

Change the laws on shooting drones. That would be a good first step.

Laws? Shoot it out of the sky and let's take it to SCOTUS.

People need to quit being ******* about shooting unmanned drones out of the sky over their properties.

They can file a flight plan with landowners if they are doing and get permission. Else, shoot the ****er down.

Told my neighbor next time he tried to land a helicopter his backyard that I would be planning a memorial balloon release:

No more helicopters.

Personally I think it's far more likely that a bunch of terrorists enters The Mall of America and starts shooting. They'd kill hundreds and hundreds.
If I were them, I would get a couple of big SUVs with 6 or 8 guys in each, all with several 30 round magazines and an AR or two apiece, park out on the street and wait until 100,000 people try to exit a college football game and are jammed shoulder to shoulder in the exits.

I live around people who have helicopters. Just seems weird. Not sure why it bothers me.

There's no doubt they've taken note and may possibly try something with them.
Al Qaeda in Iraq/ ISIS first began using drones to drop grenades like 8 years ago in Mosul.

A Ukraine quality drone will hit a loaded 747 sitting on an airport taxiway within the next few years. Virtually all commercial air traffic will be grounded for years after that causing a Black Swan drop in all markets greater than 50%, economic depression, mass layoffs AND higher cost of goods at the same time. Prepare accordingly. How do you prepare for such a thing? Not sure. Buy stock in UPS?

Guess it's a good thing 747s are cargo now.

Just to be clear, your neighbor was acting in accordance with laws, FAA rules, and airspace use regulations, and you told him you would commit felony endangerment of an aircraft if he continued to do so?

He was violating town ordinance and endangering my life.

Whether he was within FAA rules is a matter of debate, as you may or may not know. Pilot has to make a determination if his landing area is safe. His decision can be challenged.

And even though I believe I have the right to defend my family and my property, getting him fined by the town and the HOA put an end to it.

Do you really say "bro" when speaking, lol.

Just giving one example of how these terrorists who already have a death wish to begin with can carry out a fairly huge action without the need of a dirty bomb or the like, or hijack a jet or four. The people to do this sort of thing have poured over our wide open borders and the weapons are readily available. Much more likely to do this than anything that can be done here if Iran had a nuke.

You don't even need to do that. The sound of gunfire in some of these super tight choke points will create a stampede. I wrote a white paper on this and sent to several major universities and ncaa. Only Texas A&M responded.

We've been seeing how Russia and the Ukraine are using cheap, consumer grade drones to attack each other with devastating results.

Does anyone doubt that terrorists have taken notice and could be plotting to use them against the western world? Imagine what they could do with drones to attack large gatherings of people, large infrastructure, transportation centers, and downtown.

Is there anything we should start doing to prepare ourselves?

I have never taken preppers seriously before, but that might be the best thing we can do to protect ourselves and our families. It might not do anything to stop them, but it might enhance our own ability to survive such attacks.

Thoughts? Is anyone already starting on this?

Stocking food and ammo is going to protect us from drone attacks? What?

Drones with IEDs and / or biologicals dropping on crowds would create stampedes. That would likely kill more than guns as people would be unable to pinpoint the danger and be persuaded to stop and be calm.

Correct. Terrorists can simply rent a UHaul truck and drive it into a crowd of Aggies heading for Kyle Field on game day. There isn't any point in worrying about every possible danger they can use to kill us. We spend billions of dollars paying other people to worry about those things
