I wonder what our kids and grand kids will read in their history books one day about us, how we took our eye off the ball and allowed the failure of their way of life
History books will report on this era of partisan yellow journalism and woke culture. And everyone in the future will wonder how society fell so far that people couldn't define a woman publicly for fear of being cancelled.

Some will question why anyone in their right mind spent so much time on such a silly narrative which takes the spotlight off something like debt
I disagree. Every nation has multiple debt crisis is their history. But a viral mind virus that makes half the population applaud how brave parents are for sterilizing their own young? That's going to be discussed for millennia.

Theres always a fraction of the population doing ridiculous, dumb or dangerous things but whatever the .01% of the population is doing, it doesn't make it a national emergency requiring the nation's attention span. Darwin works in mysterious ways

And some of the stuff was a grift, a con that Rs fell for hook line and sinker. Remember the Tx pediatrician that was giving her kid hormones? Did you fall for that

I bet if we surveyed this entire political forum going back 20 years, the national debt is way less than 1% of topics

70 year old (latter years Boomer) here.

For those of you moaning about how Boomers design everything for their benefit, let me educate you a bit…

Us Conservative Boomers (and OUR parents) have been railing against deficit spending all the way back to LBJ's "Great Society" programs…

Our future (guaranteed) economic peril isn't a function of age classification. It's a function of "living off unlimited credit"…

That bill is going to come due for some future generation - our kids or grandkids… It ain't gonna be pretty…

It's all a "vote-retention scheme"… And it's a no-win situation…

Everybody knows that the party who finally institutes fiscal reform will be voted out of office, and the BS spending will start up again…

The only option is to secure your finances as best you can for the guaranteed, eventual crash… And the violent chaos that will follow…

Rs and Ds alike, we deserve better and the same goes for our news industry

Politicians lie and mislead all the time and it's acceptable as long as they score narrative points against the other team.

Our news industry, what use to be considered an important pillar of democracy, the 4th estate does little more than sell whatever titlating story of the day is for ad revenue. Investigative journalism is practically science fiction at this point.

Does anyone think this is a sustainable place for democracy to survive? I wonder what our kids and grand kids will read in their history books one day about us, how we took our eye off the ball and allowed the failure of their way of life

Democracy fails once you start paying for votes. The Democrats will never cut social handouts bc it's the najority of their voter base.

we are not a democracy
No, we aren't. But I'm pretty sure paying for votes is every damn bit as bad in a constitutional republic as it is a democracy.
