Yes, but his only shot is if Trump endorses him instead of Vance!

I honestly have no idea how some people are going to determine who to support when Trump isn't around to tell them.

We will go back to looking for a candidate that represents the ideals that most of us supported Trump on.

Its really not that hard to figure out.

LOL Trump didn't represent the ideals that most who supported Trump based them on, but ok.

Do a simple search of how many comments from how many users who say that Trump is doing EXACTLY what we voted for.

Yeah, I can also do a search of posts during the election of people claiming he would be for a policy or fundamental in which there were direct quotes of Trump saying the opposite. Trump, as a populist, got the benefit of people projecting their own set of national values and positions onto him. There are many positions and actions that Trump could take that are polar opposites of each other and you would still have people here say "That's what I voted for!"

I think DeSantis would do an outstanding job and I supported him before he dropped out of the race.

But one thing that disappointed me while he was running, was that he comes off very Casper milk toastish. Like it or not, charisma plays a very big part in winning a national election, more so than a state level election, and he just doesn't seem to do real well in front of the camera in that respect, IMO.

Ridiculous post.

Trump has come out publicly in support of a number of Republican candidates in primaries and they have lost.

Conservatives know how to think for themselves, no matter how badly you wish it wasn't so.

Democrats, however, do everything a lockstep. EVERYTHING.

Conservatives generally do... but populists, whom now make up a majority of the Republican party... that's another story. That is what this thread is about - conjecturing who has a shot in '28.

I'd rather see him run for Governor of Florida. We need a good follow-up act to DeSantis.

Seems like conservatives should find a new home or make themselves comfortable that the R party has moved on.

This is the answer. It would also give him more executive experience while DeSantis runs the country for eight years.

At this point I'd be happy with any of the three.

I'd love to see who the Dem's top 3 options are... Pillars of leadership, I'm sure.

I have no idea who will win the primary in 2028 but I expect to feel really good voting for either Rubio or Vance in the general election, and hope they get along and are partners on the ticket.

I think Rubio has a lot of Gravitas and with all the roles he's got, he'll be the most prepared on the national level.
Desantis can sure govern though. I don't think Vance is ready yet.

So Vance is the vp under Desantis? Or we let them primary it out with Rubio moving to FL gov? Guess that will happen anyway maybe. Just hope one of them will bring all the maga voters out again. I felt Trumps VP choice was the most important thing for his lame duck term.

This is not a lame duck term.

The term "lame duck" refers to a president who is in his final term and does not have enough votes in Congress to move anything through.

Trump has the majority of both the Senate and the house.

He is not a lame duck.

I think Don Jr runs in either '28 or '32. If he runs in '28, the primary will be a total free for all. If I were a betting man, which I am, I think he run in 28

My apologies - for the incorrect wording. I just meant the fact that he will not be able to run again. I hope he can maintain at the majorities at the mid-term.

The best ticket would be DeSantis/Vance or DeSantis/Rubio but my money is on Vance/Rubio. Vance likely gets the Trump endorsement and that is the ballgame.

I just think it is an incredible waste if they don't get a guy like DeSantis in a significant position of power nationally, much less Chip Roy. The only way that shifts is if Musk gets behind them but so far he has been hesitant to do so because he doesn't want to cross Trump.

All the charisma/personality stuff is also crap on DeSantis. You can make anyone awkward if you want to or you can make them cool. Trump is a unicorn but you can't convince me that Vance or Rubio is some dynamo compared to DeSantis.

I imagine the skeletons in Don Jr's trunk are a lot more real than in his daddy's.

Cuts in mandatory spending are in the BBB.

Revcissiions are coming.

Most all actions Trump has attempted on more immediate cuts have been blocked by courts.

I did not vote for a few Rs to try and sabotage the Trump agenda with their ol Kentucky antics.

But I am sure the snark made you feel good for a bit. It's not really accurate regarding spending cuts.

DeSantis could have been great but he couldn't get elected. Should have waited and not run against Trump. Now he has been passed by. Bad timing and bad campaign ruined his chances. He could have been Trumps VP and then walked into Presidency in 2028. Now it is gonna be JD or Marco in 28.

Me, too.

If he can maintain the majority in both houses for his full term, they are going to have to invent a new name for that.

Opposite of Lame duck.
