Nah. Overall this is a win. At a time when population has nearly peaked and will spend the rest of the century shrinking along comes a tool powerful enough to take over the routine stuff that doesn't really add much value such as HR, the transactional side of accounting and the research and documentation side of law. This frees up resources for more creative things that AI isn't good at.

Now, having said all of that people are capable of some really bad things and this is potentially the most powerful tool we've ever created that can be used for some really nefarious purposes. But that was true about nukes and the internet and scores of other creations yet here we are. You just have to have faith that the good will outweigh the bad.

8000 HR employees. HR. I'll assume that's 40% of the HR staff which means there are 12000 left for 250k employees. That's 1/20 ratio of HR to employees. We're around 1/80. That AI push has got room to run.

I hope they didn't build wokeness, misandry, victimhood, PMS, , irrationality, menopause etc into these AI HR agents. You know, for more realism.

The fear of AI is so funny to me. It's the Industrial Revolution for white collar jobs and some of us are like monkeys poking a stick at the new machinery and getting angry at it. All it is is a tool. It raises productivity, which means more from less... a higher general standard of living.

Industrialization didn't give us the ability to quickly clone a person's image and voice and release it to the entire world with no skill. That should concern you if it doesn't.

The way these systems are trained (or not trained) should also concern you.

Science fiction writers have a pretty good track record of predicting future societies. I don't recollect very many writers predicting a rosy future with AI and a whole lot more predicting the doom of humanity.

From what I've read it could honestly already be that or even more. Unemployment rates don't count recent graduates, people unemployed more than a year or severely underemployed. I've been seeing more posts of people laid off and looking for work on LinkedIn than I ever have in my professional career

I do feel like our government is going to alllow this AI issue to manifest itself and allow high unemployment and then swoop in with a big bold plan for B.U.I. that will replace S.S.

That's assuming they cut 100% of the department. They wont. They have way more than 8000 in HR.

Using the term AI means they outsourced the jobs to India.

I agree. And Musk, Trump want to continue bringing more H1Bs from India to the US and Boomers of TA want to ship more jobs overseas so they can juice up their 401ks before they die in 15 years (who cares what happens after that, right?).

When my relative whos I.T. using A.I. to help with code issues and it does in 15 min that takes humans several hours is set- match, you need to start looking for a new career.

Human Resources is a dehumanizing organization to begin with. Businesses don't have Human Resources.

They have Personnel, change it back to the personal department and maybe these tools can get their jobs back. Otherwise they are nothing more than robots to begin with
