Former NPR CEO Vivian Schiller says people in rural areas rely on public radio and TV to get their information. "It's free, it's over the air. Not everybody has cable or satellite. And so that is still a very important mechanism into communities all over the country."

Former NPR CEO Vivian Schiller, thinks you rural folks are a bunch of hayseeds, who cannot access modern technology. Talk about out of touch.
Just wait until she finds out how far they have to drive to get to a Whole Foods or a Trader Joes.

So let me get this straight. The totally clueless in society think they need to educate us? Personally I would rather have my tax dollars spent on this back. Man these people are insufferably arrogant.

It's hard to fathom the level of ignorance from liberals. I don't doubt that she actually believes this and thought she was smart for using it as a talking point.

I'm class of '89, and grew up in Olney, Texas. I didn't even realize NPR was a thing until I left for college. We listened to a lot of radio out at the ranch, but never once NPR, because there wasn't any NPR station that could be picked up. Instead, we listened to KWFT 620 AM because they had Earl Sergeant and farm market reports (cattle prices) every hour.

There was a frequent poster on TexAgs and other A&M boards back in the day who LOOOOOOVED the Cubs, would talk about the Cubs non-stop.

This was before the won the World Series, so not a bandwagon fan.

Think he used 'Old Style' as a username in their honor on one forum.

Anyways.....

Another poster on the forum was a youth baseball coach for several years, and he attended a game with 'Old Style'. He came back with an interesting observation.

He said that despite the fact that 'Old Style' was a diehard Cubs fans going way back into his childhood, he honestly didn't know baseball. He knew players. He knew managers. He knew lineups. But he knew nothing about the actual strategy of the game, the rules, the tactics, etc. He didn't know THE GAME, he just knew info about people who played the game.

If you're someone who actually knows what they're talking about, it is frustrating to argue with someone who is ignorant. I can't imagine how frustrating it is arguing with someone like 'Old Style', someone utterly convinced they're right because of years of observation, but ignorant to what is actually happening on the field.

Or, pretty much anything if you're a Brown. Sadly, it doesn't stop the women from doing it loooong past the first date. Oh well, at least you all let us wear the pants you pick out for us and tell us to wear.

I do not pick out pants or shirts for men (even began to stop doing it for the Demon Spawn).

I tell you when it doesn't match, doesn't fit, or is kinda horrendous

My love of the game is one of the reasons I hate the DH.
Baseball welfare is what it is.
Either be able to hit and field. Or become a coach/recruiter.
I don't want you for gorilla ball but to be a complete player.

Know your place.

One of the reasons I was never more than a casual baseball fan was because there was always some nerd waiting in the wings to show me how little I new about baseball

I live in rural area about 100 miles north of Houston. The free broadcast signal of PBS channel 8 in Houston doesn't come in well if at all. Haven't checked NPR in over 25 years. Did occasionally listen to some of their music programming. However, I do have satellite TV, XM radio, and fiber optic internet service(which is amazing since I live about 1/2 mile down private road and miles from nearest town). And I forgot... 5G cell service, although one of my neighbors thinks it is a government attempt at mind control.

Summary - The bigoted left thinks everyone everywhere should be tuning in to their indoctrination.
And like Hillary and her comments about "fly over country" and "deplorables", the left's "intellectuals" still think rural America as Red Neck backwoods uneducated hillbillies.

And she is one of them that has to "educate" the heathen.
