Better India than China. China needs to gain some clarity on who still runs things, and how capitalism works. New supply chains are forming every minute while they try and spar with Trump and his tariffs.

They also need to be ostracized and suffer consequences for their role in Covid, the lives it destroyed, and the subsequent global economic chaos.

So…we are not worried about Pakistan going nuke on India now?

My company is trying to completely divest itself from China after more than twenty years, an effort that actually predates the election. The problem is the most-favored nation (one with cheap enough labor) changes on a weekly basis.

So much for at least coming back to this hemisphere.

I've just started noticing this new moniker: "Assembled in X".

Such sleight of hand. Instead of telling you it was Made in China; we are going to tell you it was at least assembled in a desirable country.

Boeing could be the classic example here. Assembled in the USA, but parts are made all over the planet.

If you own stock in AAPL then you should probably want them to keep their healthy margins.

Even better that China and India hate each other. Just don't build near the disputed border.

The more and more production we move away from the CCP.... the faster the CCP will collapse and the Chinese people will be liberated.

Diversify strategic sourcing - split it between China, India, South America and SE Asia.

India may not be perfect but they do seem to strongly desire to work with the US. What's the safety of IP over there? Granted the safety/security of IP in China is ZERO so any improvement is a drastic improvement.

Wasn't India one of the first nations to reach out to Washington to negotiate a comprehensive trade deal?

Also... China and tu... May they both burn under the bombardment of plague and pestilence.

I don't see this as a win. We need automation, robotics, and domestic manufacturing. Finding a different army of slaves to turn screws is what I would expect a corporation to do.

Many companies went all in on eastern bloc countries after communism fell, went in on China when they opened up their market. As we have seen you have to be smart and cautious. You want to play but you can't get caught with too much production or assets in these countries.

The CCP drew them, then extorted major concessions from Tim Cook, including $400 billion.

A lot of AAPL owners knew this shortly after the Supply Chain Wizard Tim Cook moved almost all manufacturing to China. The single biggest mistake Steve Jobs made was endorsing Tim Cook to be his replacement.
Throw in the fact that under Steve Jobs Apple didn't donate to political campaigns and only late in Steve Jobs control donated relatively minor amounts compared to Microsoft & others. Under Tim Cook donations exploded. (re: is my distain for Tim Cook showing, again)

How long would it take India to build the infrastructure to produce iPhones to the necessary scale??

Seems like it would take years to happen.

Apple began moving some production to India years ago. I believe only the older models until recently.
