So much wrong. There weren't stranded there. The mission to bring them home launched in Sept. The mission that launched today isn't being them home. They'll come home in about a week.

Exactly. They could have left any time they wanted. All they had to do was get on their space ship…………oh wait.

Well... They were NEVER without a ride home.

When Starliner was there it was their primary ride. If there was an emergency they 100% would have left in Starliner.

After Starliner was sent home empty they still has a ride home, although less than optimal in the Crew8 Dragon (on a cargo pallet).

Now their just part of Crew 9.

They are not, and we're never stranded.

Let's suppose you go on a cruise and the ship breaks down in the middle of the ocean. There's one life boat left, but it has a leak and the engine might stop working before you can get to land. Your choice is to stay on the ship and wait until someone gets to you, or take your chances on the life boat.

Are you stranded? Sure, if there's an emergency on the ship and it starts going down you can jump in the life boat and hope for the best. You technically have a way off the ship. But it's currently more dangerous than being on the ship.

Are you stranded?
Those folks on Gilligan's Island weren't stranded. They got off the island in 1978. They were just inconvenienced.

They could have gotten off the island at any time by swimming.

We should be celebrating Space X's rescue of the astronauts Joe Biden left in space without a plan for their return.

Elon Musk stepped up to the plate and reunited families. Awesome job to the doers of this administration. A huge change from the incompetus mentis of 2021-2024.

Ellis is correct.

Awesome job by the doers.

Thank you Elon, and

Thank you President Trump.

This should be celebrated far and wide!

NASA has done many great things over the years. But, the last president stranded people in space and it took a private citizen and his company to rescue them.

We should see more public/private cooperation. We need to see many fewer fatasses with no accountability soaking up taxpayer dollars. We need agencies to stick to their core missions and stop straying into "outreach" and social experimentation. The space program should focus on space.

It won't happen. Too many fat cat NASA contractors living off the government teat.

Great photo. It was hilarious seeing that pod of dolphins swimming around the craft within 2 minutes of it splashing down.

Americans, liberals included, should be grateful to Elon Musk for everything he does for this country. And yes, I know he makes a handsome profit. That's what happens when you are smart, work hard, and build/produce a good product. Thanks to Musk and the folks at SpaceX for getting them all home safely. The U.S. space program would be screwed without Musk and his team right now. He has the only tested and proven man rated capsule outside of the Russians and Chinese.

Just ask a liberal how they would feel if instead of relying on Musk, we still had to hitch a ride and pay evil Putin and the Russian space agency in order to get to the International Space Station, and watch their heads explode.

Just watched Part 2 of Elon on with Ted Cruz. Elon sad the Russians were charging the US 90 million for each seat to go to and from the space station. He estimated it actually cost them around 10 million for that seat.

He also said that early, he tried to buy decommissioned ICBMs from Russia but they kept raising the price on him so he gave up and built his own. LOL.

Not only did he build them, he built them far better. The cost for SpaceX is so low because the Falcon 9 booster is fully reusable. It is absolutely remarkable technology that is a decade ahead of anyone else in the business. Musk is truly a genius. Kind of a modern day Howard Hughs/Henry Ford. I don't think most Americans appreciate how fortunate we are he is here in this era.

I turned on Good Morning America this morning and they mentioned the rescue but never mentioned Space X. The only reference was when they played the audio of Space X coms welcoming the astronauts home. If one did not know, they would think NASA brought them home. I know first mistake was GMA.

NASA had plans since last August that they would return in February/March of this year.

Wilmore and Williams will continue their work formally as part of the Expedition 71/72 crew through February 2025. They will fly home aboard a Dragon spacecraft with two other crew members assigned to the agency's SpaceX Crew-9 mission. Starliner is expected to depart from the space station and make a safe, controlled autonomous re-entry and landing in early September.

False. They were left up there until who knows when…

Whoever was running the country didn't care about them. You can downplay what Musk and SpaceX did, but they saved those astronauts after democrats abandoned them.

I'm a huge fan of Space X and Musk. I'm not downplaying them, but Crew Dragon capsules have been shuttling astronauts to and from the ISS for years and we've known since August that Butch and Suni would return on one around now.

Elon Musk interview with Hannity. Musk flatly states that Biden/Harris turned down his offer to rescue the astronauts.

But hey, what would he know?

EDIT: Link fixed

My assumption is that the video I linked earlier was taken from the Hannity site without permission, and was taken down by Youtube. Here it is on the Hannity site. Time stamp is the same

Hey Canyon, the video is marked at "private". I found a snippit of it elsewhere.

The question I have is...what were the terms? I doubt Space X would have done it for free. The two astronauts who got screwed were the two dropped from the launch last fall, not Wilmore and Williams.

No, I wouldn't. I just find it much more plausible that NASA decided to bump 2 astronauts from their rotation and not spend the extra money for an extra Crew Dragon mission over Musk's assertion that the decision was politically based.

Seems odd they wouldn't have let the astronauts know that ahead of time.

Ahead of what time? The astronauts have known since August. NASA publicly announced the plans on August 28. Why spend multi millions just to return 2 astronauts when it makes much more fiscal sense to have them replace 2 of the astronauts that were supposed to arrive shortly after their planned departure?
