Pete Rose was a complete piece of **** of a human but he got a whole lot of hits.....and it amazes me how many people value the hits more.
The last 7 or 8 years of his career were terrible and were just a personal, egotistical quest to break Cobb's record.
All that to say that the Baseball Hall of Fame is not run by executive orders.....and based on how they treated Curt Schilling they aren't fawning over what the president wants.
Ty Cobb was a pretty loathsome human being on and off the field…

However, Cobb didn't bet on baseball, sign off on his own personal ban from the sports, then lie about it, then try to play the public sympathy card to have his ban lifted while simultaneously trying to hold the other side to the agreement that he was trying to squash.
What I was trying to drive at was that I'm always suprised that Pete gets as much public support as he does.
