Speak whatever language you want, but when dealing with gov't, you MUST know English as the common language.

Nobody is saying you can't speak any language you want to, but government documents no longer take double postage because they are in at least two languages. This is just common sense.

English is the lingua franca of aviation and designating it as a national language shouldn't be a problem. We should have proficiency in a common language, English, irrespective of what is spoken in the home or colonia.

Remember when immigrants were proud to learn English prior to becoming citizens? I do.

My dad sold one of our old cars to a recent immigrant who had passable but broken English. He thanked my dad for being patient and was working hard to learn English bc he knew that was the fastest way for him to get ahead in his new country. This was ~1982
