Milley claimed to be "a Trump guy" when he interviewed for CJCS. He then dis a 180 during the BLM riots and behaved in a seditious manner for the last six months of Trump's first term. Milley's patron was SecDef Robert Gates who put him on the path to four stars.

This interview with the former ASA for Personnel and Readiness, Casey Wardynski, is a wealth of information into Milley's background and the coterie of politicized careerist officer he picked to surround himself. At the 46:25 mark, Wardynski talks about how generals are promoted. This is why President Trump is probably wise to look outside the pipeline of officers that would have been assumed to be qualified for CJCS.

Milley was Trumps guy. Trump passed over Gen Goldfein for Milley, which was a huge mistake. Goldfein was a great leader who would've been a much more strategic and apolitical CJCS. Water under the bridge now, though.
Trump was very naive his first term.

I think the last 8 years have made him understand a lot more about how the bureaucracy works...

A good definition of bureaucracy is either dazzle them with brilliance or baffle them with BS. It is usually the latter.

It's readily apparent at this time...

But we have learned that there was alot of mole style activity in 45 term of giving bad advice. Seems to be a case of that. Wray was another.

The new CJCS nominee is an Air National Guard guy, too. I don't believe we've ever had a Reserve or Guard CJCS.

Having served under Brown as PACAF/CC, on the Air Staff when he was CSAf, and on the JCS, I don't think he was woke like he is made out to be (and I despise DEI in the military). He made some mistakes wading into the post George Floyd messaging and signed off on a memo the SecAF and UnderSecAF championed to put quotas (seemingly) on race based recruiting. But he was vocal about how he did not favor tipping the scales in favor of one group because it takes away from another, which is the antitheses of DEI. The USecAF at the time was only focused on DEI BS and Brown is a casualty of it, IMO.

His priorities as CSAF and CJCS were in alignment with Trump and Hegseth, even before they got into office, but he committed a few unforgivable sins to the anti-DEI movement. It is a shame. He was actually a major improvement over Milley as Chairman.

CQ Brown was either was going to ascend to where he was as a reward, or get fired as soon as an anti woke president was elected from the BLM Video he aired.
