It would be nice if the U.S. had a coherent foreign policy.
The article talks about how Hegseth clarified his comments from yesterday to be stronger against Russia

From an American perspective, the Biden administration has succeeded in making Russia deeply integrated with China, economically and militarily. This is a disaster for us. But how do you bring Russia back into SWIFT or into cooperation if… pic.twitter.com/uF7XZF4bVaOrban should know by now the 'why.' But I won't get into it here.Quote:
This is truly a historic event. This war will change the world for decades. Even our children will live in an era when Russia will never return to the West as it was.
Viktor Orban:
Unfortunately, I agree with that. Russia remains our neighbor, and that is the problem. The Russians have accepted the fact that Central European countries like Hungary have become members of NATO. Although they have always criticized this, saying that it is unfair, because it was promised that the territories of the former Soviet Union would not join NATO. But we made our move, and the Russians accepted it.
Ukraine was a buffer zone between NATO and Russia. But when we started developing its army and talking about possible NATO membership, the buffer zone turned into a war zone. It is no longer a buffer. That is the problem.
I have always told the West: do not consider this war yours. This is a war between two Slavic peoples - brutal, but brotherly. Russians and Ukrainians. Isolate them, keep them away, but don't make it your war. But that's exactly what you did. The US president came and said, "We're at war." But why? Nobody knows the answer.
From the very beginning, I was sure that war would make Russia stronger. That's a history lesson. World War I, World War II - they always start weaker, but they get stronger. That's a lesson Hungary learned.
The proxy war has grown their military capabilities/investment (spend) tremendously. And fwiw to OP JD Vance rebuked the absurdity of the WSJ lies about what he said:Quote:
US Vice President J.D. Vance said on Friday that The Wall Street Journal misinterpreted his comments about the possibility of sending US troops to Ukraine
"The fact that the WSJ misinterpreted my words is absurd," Vance wrote on H's social media.
"As I have always said: American troops should not be in conflict zones unless our interests and security require it. And this war is only between Russia and Ukraine," Vance added.

I don't want war with Russia
But saying it's "ideal" for Putin to get off scott free after being responsible for the deaths of millions is a wild take.

Nah, probably not as TDS destroys thinking.

Nonsense. The Russians and Chinese have a deep distrust of one another that goes back a long, long time. Remember, they were great buddies under Brezhnev and Mao when it came to Military matters and then grew apart. This is a short term alliance of convenience under the circumstances.nortex97 said:

Not sure I'd hang this around Putin's neck. He responded to a threat. How different would it be if Mexico or Canada decided join Russian forces, build Russian military bases, and house Russian nukes? I would expect the same response from America and cite their actions for our reaction.
Don't fall for the "unprovoked" company line the dems spewed to justify their money laundering operation.
