Now that the adults are in charge and the social "experiment" has been revoked, the Army has seen an increase of recruitment.

Now that stupid people are no longer "in charge", the military can return to killing and breaking stuff over pronouns and gendered language non-sense.

The United States Marine Corps* did not have near the recruitment problem the Army did during the Biden Reign of Terror.

*USMC: Fighting enemies of America since November 10, 1775. Semper Fi(delis)

Hate to derail a thread but I was hoping you would comment on Avian Influenza, APHISAg, that is if you are a Veterinary Services Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostician kind of APHIS guy or gal. If so, maybe you could start a thread on it......

They were less under mealy Milley's thumb though, no? Always a little apart, even from the Joint Chiefs?

No, not really. A rebellious child most times maybe but always under Joint Chief command unless under direct Presidential orders which hasn't happened in ages IIRC.

The main thing I believe is that the USMC has never wavered from its core principles. While the Army has shopped around for an identity and changed catchphrases constantly for decades now. Our nation has bred a large share of warriors from its inception and the USMC calls to them in ways that the Army never will. Because the mission is clear and upfront and always has been. Kill the enemy by any means possible and break all their ***** While the Army can't even stick to the same dress uniform over time.

Isn't that funny how that works? It's almost as if people crave a mission and strong leadership.

The Marines have a fraction of the recruitment quota that the Army has.

With higher standards and a reputation of being more difficult all around.

Also, Army has about double the recruiting quota of USMC while being nearly triple the size. And that is not even including the National Guard which is around 1.5x the entire USMC, active and reserve.

So, it's still not really close to a one to one comparison if you actually get into the numbers.

I think it has more to do with poopy pants' worsening economy and people turning to the military

This and open immigration. One of my boys just graduated boot camp. There were quite a few graduates that received citizenship. Also lots of foreigners that I guess were already legal status. Not sure how that works. He had one African in his unit that was 42 years old.

The military is also drawing more tech-focused recruits than ever with cyber security, drones, etc all being relatively new focus.

as Secretary Kennedy has stated

80% of all 18 year olds are ineligible for military service due to poor health

this is insanity!

literally after the Great Depression and starvation we had healthier soldiers!

Not true. The Army at least has "fat camp". If you don't meet the minimum requirements (not sure what those are) you go to "fat camp" before you enter boot camp. Also, "military service" includes every function in the armed forces and a lot of those are tech jobs and admin functions. Many boot camp graduates will never touch a rifle for the rest of their enlistment.

I'm not arguing that we don't have a health issue among young people. In fact I would agree we are an unhealthy nation in all age groups. But the "ineligible" statement is false and a blanket extreme health requirement for the whole military is unnecessary and would make it extremely difficult to fill critical roles within the armed forces.

Are we still talking about getting into the military, or becoming a Democrat nominee for President?

The answer is in the middle really.

Physical health ineligibility IS up and growing. But the fastest growing percentage of health ineligibility is actually mental health issues. More and more teens are being prescribed SSRI's from a younger age as an example. Which is an auto DQ from last I remember. Physical and mental combined is leading to a smaller pool of candidates for enlistment.

And the fat camp is honestly great for sure, but it is resource intensive and if anything is a point proving the health issues we face as a nation.
