Rare that someone gets fired for missing a day of work. There's most likely a list of reasons glossed over for the article.
Simply missing a day of work is very different than grouping together with a critical number of employees to miss work in an attempt to "educate" your employer of "how critical" you are to the operation.

That is a blatant attempt to harm the operation of the entity you work for, and as Texas is an 'at will' state, your employer is justified in considering your action as an inherent risk to the successful operation of the business and letting you go.

I'll make it a point in the next week to get a Hat Creek burger.

We talking burgers????

Cow Hop or gtfo.

If you ate at the Cow Hop in 1988, I cooked your burger.

Bino Cow Pie with steak fries covered in white gravy with coarse ground peppers

That's a burger.

Exactly how I see it too.

The manager seems to be okay with the idea of the restaurant shutting down for a day so customers can see what it's like to not have illegal immigrants working at their favorite restaurants. It appeared he was trying to walk right up to the line on what's tolerable behavior in an employee, and the employer canned his ass.

Now people in Austin (just check some of the Austin subreddits) are calling for a Hat Creek boycott.

Thus the reason for my post.

I don't care if your great grandma makes better burgers or your hole in the wall nobody's heard of is a far superior burger. This isn't a dick measuring contest over who has the best taste in burgers, it's about supporting a business that did the right thing and is gonna get backlash from it.

Here's the thing, though. That these "protestors" are missing.

They are LEGAL workers. Missing work does not show anything about what deporting ILLEGAL workers does!

This whole protest is a joke! (I know you know that, I'm venting)
