Say goodbye, my baby /Billy Joel

Boreing's latest razors commercial cost him $47 bucks he says, versus over $1m to make the first two.

AI seems like it could be a significant threat to Hollywood.

That is so much better than what Hollywood could ever create. And kicking the bear across the face at the end.

"seems" Nah. It's OVER. Film and television is now a bunch of nerds with high powered graphics cards.

Modeling is done. You can make a more beautiful woman than anything nature could make. And for pennies.

It will impact almost every industry. But film/tv/modeling's goose is cooked.

Ironic that the commercial rips on the "unmanliness of beards" but Jeremy is sporting one.

The previous commercials were better. There's something cartoonish and "uncanny valley" about AI generated stuff.

I don't think so. There will always be a market for real actors and models. AI imagery is like the "Auto-tune" of visual media.
Just because something looks or sounds "perfect", it doesn't mean it looks or sounds good.

There are going to be huge legal fights to hash out regarding the often licensed or copyrighted source material that these AI algorithms very often crawl through and use to amalgamate their own compositions. Unless one owns all the IP the AI is using to create what are just very sophisticated composites, one can argue it is copying some fraction of source media to do its work.

I am not sure that has ever really been hashed out and the real problem from there is more complicated in that the AI programmers often are dealing with a black box of self generated or evolved code and they can't explain or trace exactly how their AI used source material to generate a final product.

Unless you constrain an AI to source material that is legal public domain or privately owned and authorized, that problem occurs, and it compounds as AI's generate successive iterations of output that are subsequently used as further source material unless they are somehow flagged as AI and it is instructed to disregard such sources.

Still looks fake and obviously computer generated.
"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Churchill

OP.....I don't believe in the demise of hollywood. Who else is going to give us these new re-tellings of snow white, or reboots of Captain America (this time he's different), or another version of superman, or even the forking dinosaurs. AI wouldn't retell the same crap and try to package it as something new. Hollywood will never give up their gig easily,

I have sat in too many empty theaters over the last few years. Each time I do, I look around in wonder at the fact that hollywood will never learn.
No, I don't give a damn how much money you make. If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take. I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in

Another decade and this stuff will get so good it will be difficult to distinguish from the real thing regarding media, at least in short cuts of it, and at least where it is showing something non-fantastical.

You will eventually need an AI to ensure what you are looking at in court is not also artificial, for example.

Give it time. Also part of the fun of A.I. is you can do whatever with it.

If you watch the video of that indian girl, there are parts of it where she is walking that are very hard to distinguish from reality.

BTW, I've started using Jeremy's razors.

Best razors I've ever used by far!

- Gillette went by the wayside after they called me a rapist
- Harry's was decent, but they were so sharp, there was always a danger i'd slit my throat
- Tried safety razors, old school, tons and tons of cuts
- Currently use the 5 blade jeremy's razor, absolutely amazing - clean, and not deadly
