Also que for Trump to try the Obama pen-and-phone fiat idea with my variant of simply issuing the same directives his nominees would and by appointing them to a without-portfolio post with the identical duties and different name. FDR did things like this.

Partly because these scumbags realize that Trump is killing their gravy train. USAID might not be their specific gravy train, but Trump isnt going to stop. They are hoping that if the protest enough and get enough BlueAnon morons to support them, then they might slow down Trump, or even convince him its not worth the fight.

I was sent to a USAID project in a third world country to do some technical work. Just told someone will take care of me when I arrive at the airport.

Imagine my surprise when a presidential security detail picks me up. I asked why, they said the president was half owner.

"Really? I'm surprised he invests in this industry."

"He doesn't invest anything. If you want to build something here, you give him half."

No question there are lots of good reasons to cut off USAID, but there are employees and contractors in some pretty rough parts of the world who are finding their emails locked, payment system shut down, and nobody home at HQ to even talk to about what to do. I don't think anyone considered needing to get workers home from places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Somalia, the Congo, and South Sudan.

Moving fast is fine, but we can't just leave people who have been working for the United States stranded overseas, especially in places where their safety could be at risk.

You can be sure of that. Foreign trips for Congress critters and family for starters. No show jobs for friends and family are another. Money laundering through other entities all the way through to entities making campaign donations, etc.

I have long been very critical of the State Department and their revolving door of people working at State, then going to NGO or a Soros think tank or the like and back again. USAID was/is a very large part of that cronyism.
