Vivek Ramaswamy expected to depart DOGE

I knew this would happen.
I think Vivek will end up leaving DOGE and will detach himself from the Trump movement without being a critic. Vivek is too smart and capable to be just a "co-lead" for DOGE which isn't even a real Government department. Besides, Vivek and Elon are both alpha males who are leaders, they won't like working with each other and have to negotiate in case there are differences in opinion.

So Gov of OH is a good option for Vivek to get some real administration experience.

Vivek Ramaswamy, President-elect Donald Trump's choice to co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) with entrepreneur Elon Musk, is expected to soon step away from the task force, CBS News has learned. Ramaswamy intends to announce a campaign for Ohio governor as soon as the end of January, multiple sources confirmed to CBS News.

Ramaswamy, 39, had no comment.

People close to Musk have privately undercut Ramaswamy for weeks, frustrated with his lack of participation in the heavy lifting, according to sources familiar with the internal dynamics. There has been friction between the incoming rank and file DOGE staff and Ramaswamy, the sources said, and Ramaswamy has been subtly encouraged to exit.

"Vivek has worn out his welcome," one person close to Trump said.

Ramaswamy recently met with the Ohio's sitting governor, Mike DeWine, about the state's Senate seat left vacant by Vice President-elect JD Vance. But on Friday, DeWine announced he is appointing his lieutenant governor to the post.

That's not going to help him in anything he wants to do in the future. He needs to show he can stick to a task and produce results.

this is the correct move and not for any infighting between vivek and musk. vivek ran for president and did pretty damn good. he has no experience in government. this will only bolster he future aspirations to be president. musk will not be running for president for obvious reasons so he can play his role with doge and still do his day job. i am just saying this move makes a lot of sense.

He will definitely seek the Governor of Ohio. If he can get elected he will be a much better ally than being Musk's wingman

Agree. Vivek is much more politically driven in terms of running for office. Elon couldn't GAS about being in elected office. Would crimp his style too much.

I don't agree.

1. Vivek stepping away will remove any chance of friction with Elon causing damage to the MAGA movement. That is inevitable that the two of them get into a fight. Better leave now than when a fight occurs.
2. Vivek needs real Govt experience. He can get it by being Gov. If he does a great job, he will easily be POTUS and no one can say he has no experience (a knock against him in 2024).
3. DOGE is not a real job. He is too smart to be wasting his time there. Elon has a real job (many real jobs).

What Vivek said was 100% true, but I agree that he damaged his goodwill. One cannot tell the truth in politics every time.

Also the H1B issue, he is now seen as someone who wants to bring in armies of Indians from India. That is unMAGA. If he really pushes for it, I am off the VivekMobile.

Dude will not win any office he runs for. He killed his political life with a series of stupid tweets.

Agree. Some administrative experience will show what he can or cannot do.

Putting him as co-lead for DOGE was a bad mistake. Either make him the boss or make him the subordinate. You cannot have 2 CEOs.

Vivek is wrong. By PISA scores American whites score higher than most Asian nations and every single European nation. By comparison, India scored 72 out of 73 nations on this test.

What made American so successful in the past never had anything to do with some educational system similar to what Asian nations do. Most of the great people of the past were very well rounded people and not just nerds. Nerds having too much power is one of the reasons why the country has taken such a downturn. The Simpsons actually nailed this part.

We want well rounded intelligent people, not worker drones.

Further, if it seems like people have given up it because the entire system is stacked hard against them.

Smart move. Nothing will come from DOGE. It has no authority to do anything other than be a bully pulpit and Elon has that market cornered since he owns the pulpit.

No idea what Vivek's chances of winning political office might be. I didn't pay much attention the the recent H1B visa spat.

As much as Vivek is bright and articulate he showed his weakness in a way that it will be hard to overcome. Vivek was brought up in great privilege and went to the best private schools. Most of his knowledge is academic towards everyday Americans. I think he truly means well but he doesn't understand the culture in that fundamental way and I don't think he truly realized just how insulting he was until the backlash.

I hope he learns from it and it humbles him and causes him to realize he is smart but he isn't THAT smart. I want his voice in the Party. I think he would make a great Governor of Ohio and it would be good to see what he can do. He needs to slow his roll a bit though and earn it by showing he can execute on what he is talking about and that he has a better understanding of what America is all about and the importance of celebrating our culture. Do that and he can have a great future but unfortunately that statement he made will have a long memory with a lot of people.

Prom queens are dumb. I'd rather we celebrate scientists and engineers and doctors.

Most of the prom queens I know went on to have successful lives with solid marriages and families. I value much more than work.

Being a Prom queens isn't a job. Vivek was talking about careers. You can be a prom queen AND have a productive career.

We will see, certainly politicians have come back from a lot worse. For instance a strong endorsement from Trump would go a long way to clear the field in the GOP Primary and Ohio is still fundamentally a pretty Red State at this point (R+12) and every Statewide elected official is now Republican. The Ohio Senate is 26-7 GOP and the House is 67-32.

Who exactly is going to beat him?

I agree with you, I think he got carried away with his own brilliance and didn't realize it could bite him back. I am sure he will introspect.
He was trying to go too fast (by aspiring to be President) so I think a few years as Gov and with some solid achievements he can make a legitimate run for President if he still wants it.

I don't think what he said will hurt him long term. Many people have said worse.
