I don't have TikTok but some in my family do. I've heard different stories:

1) When the ban hits, you will no longer be able to download TikTok but if you already have it, nothing much will change

or

2) When the ban goes into effect, TikTok will go dark and no longer be of use to anyone in the US

Which is it?

However, the app won't be able to be updated with security patches, fixes, etc after the ban... which is not good for long term viability. That means people will move to another platform.

And it's not a ban... the Chinese just can't own it
