Because Mitch McConnell gave Republican Senatorial Election funds to Murkowski (Independent) instead of the republican that Alaskans voted for in the primary.

Murkowski is the Dade Phelan of Alaska. Democrats love her, and she only wins because of them.

Read that the best way to combat the ranked voting bs is to only vote for one person as #1 and none of the others for #2, 3, ect. (if that's even possible in AK).

We won our lone house seat back from D's this year by finally getting 2nd place R to drop out after primary and then everyone voting for R in 1st ballot and leave 2nd ballot blank.

That doesn't work with someone like Murkowski as she would not drop out if she were 2nd place R. Everyone voting for Tshibaka (or whoever R challenger is next time) would vote Tshibaka first and blank on 2nd, 3rd etc... but democrats would vote D first and Murkowski 2nd and she would win.

Fair point that if you got rid of the jungle primary aspect that Lisa would just get primaried and RCV would be insignificant. The way the Alaska law is written jungle primary is part of the Ranked Choice system so the entire thing needs to be repealed.

The (well-funded) ad campaign to keep RCV last year was laughable. I got a flier that said veterans and first responders would lose their right to vote if RCV is repealed. I guess some people are dumb enough to fall for it as we are still stuck with RCV and Lisa for now...

As much of a dip**** as McConnell is, he came through big time confirming so many judges last time Trump was in office and also refusing to hold a confirmation vote on Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court at the end of Obama's second term, which was massive.
