As of 2020 all new builds (3 stories or less) in California require solar power. I wonder if California will enforce this mandate with all the rebuilding that will happen. Thoughts?

The system also must be large enough to meet the home's annual electricity usage, or at least have a battery system ($$$$) to make it capable of doing so.

How will illegals even be able to live there with silly ass regs like this?

Listened to Trump at Governor's Ball.
His thoughts on the California homes (paraphrasing):
1. Gavin Newsom is a terrible governor who turned down water when Trump put a bill on his desk to give them "unlimited" water from Northern states and Canada.
2. These are among the most expensive homes in the world and they are gone and likely won't be coming back.
3. Many of those people won't rebuild. They'll move to states like Florida and Texas costing California billions in tax revenue from these homeowners.
4. No one wants to live in a construction site for the foreseeable future.
5. Newsom is one of the worst governors to ever run a state (did I already say that?) and he has destroyed California.
Solar works great in remote or small/mid use applications where running power lines isn't possible or economical. It can also make sense in combination with traditional power if you capture energy from the sun as a supplement to fossil fuel energy (rooftop panels, etc).chjoak said:
While I don't believe solar to be nearly as effective as some claim, I don't have issues with people trying to utilize it as an alternative. Mandating it is BS. What I don't understand..... why do we try to utilize acreage that could be used for better purposes rather than covering the roofs of shopping malls, strip centers, walmarts, etc....? Utilize land that is already being utilized.

My bet on those displaced from these fires is that they will take their insurance money and move to another state. They can also sell their lot to Oprah for pennies on the dollar.
