A woman in Georgia tried to evict a squatter and ended up going to jail.
The crazy justification for being easy on squatters seems to be that they have tenant's rights that are being illegally violated by the property owner.
In this case, the squatter was the daughter of a previous partner who had already been evicted.

I think that the deputy's remark says it all -- he is clearly saying that the squatter has the greater right to the home because she is less fortunate.
What a pathetic world we have created.

Loletha Hale was charged with criminal trespass following a confrontation at her property on Dec. 9, according to WSB-TV 2.
["I spent the night on a mat on a concrete floor in deplorable conditions. While this woman, this squatter slept in my home," said Hale to WSB-TV 2.
The situation began in August when Hale discovered Sakemeyia Johnson, whom she described as a squatter, occupying her home.
However, a judge ruled that Johnson was not a squatter due to her relation to a previously evicted tenant's partner.
"How can she not be squatting when I've never had any type of contract relationship with this person," said Hale to WSB-TV 2.
Body camera footage from the sheriff's department captured a deputy advising Hale to consider the alleged squatter's perspective, noting, "Everybody isn't as fortunate as you to have a bed."
According to WSB-TV 2, Hale was charged with criminal trespassing and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats. The alleged squatter was not charged with any crime.
