Remove the handle and you'd think this was a Dem. Most conservative president of my life…lol.

There will be no drastic spending cuts in the next 4 years. The best way to reduce the deficit is lower interest rates to save on interest payments and tax receipts from stock market gains. That's the Trump playbook. There will be no cuts

Trumps pettiness is the worst. But this is just him trying to push chip closer to being a trumpster than he is.

Same as he always was, unsurprising.

I'm not sure trumps debt ceiling complain is especially democrat.

Iirc, Republicans yelled about it as well, since it serves almost no purpose except to bring about chaos every so often. It's clear neither dems nor Republicans care much about exceeding any particular dent limit.

I love Roy and think he'd be a great guy to primary Cornyn, but this time, Trump is correct. If Roy refuses to vote for an ACTUAL date-changing clean CR plus suspension of the debt limit, then Roy is grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.

The debt limit REALLY needs to be killed. The Uniparty uses a fear of breach to jam through all kinds of bull***** No one's actually afraid of a government shutdown, but the whole world fears the US breaching it's debt limit.

Trump only went after Roy because he endorsed DeSantis. Period. He stopped attacking him but unfortunately any DeSantis backers have been kept out of the Trump Admin so far. It's definitely leaving a LOT of talent on the sidelines that agree and support Trump.

The debt ceiling was the only leverage Rs had to stem Dem spending. Now we want to get rid of it? Unlimited credit card for government.

President-elect Trump is a mad king. You just have to hope that the king's madness is a net positive for you in the end. The sum total of benefits to conservatives in the federal judiciary in his first term and what will be his second term will be a generational transformation to the federal judiciary in favor of conservatives. Additionally Pam Bondi is like a 5/10 for AG but compare that to Keith Ellison who would be a -10000000000000/10. Kamala had promised Keith Ellison AG behind doors.

They clearly didn't use the leverage to reduce any debt.

The Rs used it last time to get an agreement from the Dems to reduce spending by 1%. Johnson then flinched once it got to the point of implementing the cuts because he's owned by defense contractors.

Also, those cuts you are talking about ended because the Rs and Ds made a deal.

If we abolish it? More time than if we don't.

Trump (or more likely Vivek, Musk, and Vought) are looking at the next spending fight in March and realizing it's going to line up with end of extraordinary measures for the debt limit, which means we're going to get royally hosed on the next spending package. No one is going to let the debt limit expire, the Dems know that, and will demand the world for the 150+ votes its going to need to pass both.

OR we can do it now, get a clean CR and take the debt limit off the table for two years and maybe get some wins.

Based on your past posting of Trump, he could announce he is now a commie and you'd still lick his boots.

Its never about the man !!! its about policy. Boot lickers will never figure that one out.
If Trump governs from the right, I'll back him. He starts going left he can kiss ass. Its that simple.

Uh, If this is true, he's calling for removing the debt ceiling. Thats Trump not sounding liberal ? If Trump or anyone else doesn't want to be tagged as a lib then dont do lib crap.

And, if true, this move is as lib as it gets. Debt will absolutely kill this country's eco if it hasn't already. This issue is the issue of our time. That's totally a Harris-esk move and deserves total condemnation if true.

I am hoping this is lib or media BS.

You have a wonderful, but weird imagination.

After the debt limit is gone, what would be holding Congress back from spending without limit? Remember that whatever is passed in a Republican administration will be available to the Democrats the next time they win.

If he's calling out the debt ceiling itself as an ineffective tool to limit the growth of the deficit/debt, I don't see that as false. It's a political tool that even if it had good intentions when crafted has failed. Dems (and rino's) use the threat of a shut down over this, and the budget, to drive more spending, period.

He's not starting to sound like a Democrat. He has sounded like a Democrat for years. Look at his views on trade, war, tariffs, even abortion. He's basically a 90s Democrat akin to Bill Clinton.

There never was going to be. I don't understand why or how anyone thought there would be.

Greater than 2/3 of our spending is already untouchable. That leaves about 1/3 that will be fought tooth and nail over by the Deep State and Congress.

We are not going to get drastic spending cuts and never were.

People thinking the Trump admin is going to dramatically cut spending are delusional.
