It wasn't public knowledge yet that the news and social media were paid off by the government to suppress anti-vaccine opinions. It was completely reasonable for a CEO to think Covid was far more dangerous than it actually was. You are talking from a 2024 standpoint not a 2020-2021 standpoint.

Your hypothetical means nothing, people would kill another person for the chance to be jabbed if that scenario played out. It would be game over for modern society...no one would be coming back into the office that is for sure...experimental vaccine or not. mandates or not. We make risk assessments all the time. A disease with a 50-100% fatality/turn-into-a-zombie rate is not the same as a disease with a much lower than 1% fatality rate for the vast majority of the population. If he was self employed, then yeah... I would expect him to tell Biden to F off. But in this case, the CEO of my organization didn't have only himself to worry about. He had a bunch of employees, shareholders, and warfighters to worry about too. If my CEO did what you wanted, then we would have lost all government business awarded for 4 years (which in our case is pretty much 100% of it). That would have put a ton of his employees out of work and screwed over shareholders and warfighters. Guys like Musk have the ability to tell government to F off because government is not buying his Teslas, and he has such market dominance in rockets, that the government cannot afford to fire him anyway. That is not the case for most companies.

Regarding the CEO of my company, I'm not sure if he was a "true believer" or not. We do have a "DEI organization", but all they do is put up occasional posters or articles and BS like that. They do say in all of our training that we do not hire based on quotas, and instructed their management as such. Any "DIE hires" that were hired were do so at the sole discretion of individual moronic managers here and there. Not due to company policy. So if I had to guess, he was playing along for the same reasons as above. He has more than himself to worry about.
