Incoming U.S. President Donald Trump's transition team is recommending sweeping changes to cut off support for electric vehicles and charging stations and to strengthen measures blocking cars, components and battery materials from China, according to a document seen by Reuters.

The recommendations, which have not been previously reported, come as the U.S. electric-vehicle transition stalls and China's heavily subsidized EV industry continues to surge, in part because of its superior battery supply chain. On the campaign trail, Trump vowed to ease regulations on fossil-fuel cars and roll back … President Joe Biden's EV mandate.

The transition team also recommends imposing tariffs on all battery materials globally, a bid to boost U.S. production, and then negotiating individual exemptions with allies, the document shows.

Alright alright alright. This is the kind of policies we can all get behind. Something for everyone one here.

Trump will fix it.

This will be great for Tesla since it no doubt has Elon's input and is the most American made car on the road. Will more than likely prevent the market from being flooded with cheap BYD imports from China.

And that's the only way to proceed. The market will produce a better EV, if that's what the market wants, than mandates ever could.

Not to hijack, but I might buy a Tesla just for the FSD. It's getting really, really good.

I don't care what car anyone wants to drive. Get out of taxpayer funded mandates.

Helps the tesla battery production greatly (ie. helps level the playing field).

TSLA up 5.5% on the news.

Hopefully it's not too late to stop Jim Farley's total destruction of Ford pushing his misguided dreams of a total EV world foisted upon and crammed down the throats of the proletariat by like-minded big government.

What's sad, California and the other believer states will continue to force the mandates, which will continue to eff it up for everyone else...

Does Tesla produce their own cells from raw feedstock? I honestly don't know.

Also need to see if they're been any update on XOM with their lithium salt capture pilot in Arkansas from oil field produced water.

Or how about killing the stupid Obama requirement that creates the need for a DEF system altogether?

All it does is cost money and create problems.

Federal vs state powers, how is he going to regulate what state govts do within their own states?

Emissions controls and safety regs aren't mentioned anywhere in the constitution

Loving to see things like this:

Quote:

Eliminating requirements that federal agencies purchase EVs. A Biden policy requires all federal acquisitions of cars and smaller trucks to be zero-emission vehicles by the end of 2027.

Ending DOD programs aimed at purchasing or developing electric military vehicles.
Trump will fix it.

I agree with this, but EOs need to go. Heavy regulations coming and going every 4 to 8 years makes it hard for businesses to plan and survive.

100% this. Especially for work trucks that idle a lot. It's expensive, creates a ton of maintenance issues, and is a giant pain in the rear end.
