There is a lot more of it going on than you either realize or will admit.agsalaska said:schmellba99 said:Wrong.agsalaska said:Cinco Ranch Aggie said:Who's common sense? That is always the problem with asinine statements like this. No thanks.Travelag08 said:
So its the school system that indoctrinates children?
As a former teacher, if I wanted to indoctrinate a child, I would have started with good manners and proper hygiene for kids. And maybe on a good day, I could teach them to love reading.
Again, these solutions may not help, but we haven't even tried!!!!! Many people want common sense gun control laws, and why are they not passed?
So, in all fairness, and to be clear I do not agree with his stance on gun control at all, but the teacher's indoctrination is a load of ***** That was probably his main point.
Teachers have very little to do with things like this. Yes there are exceptions but 99.9% of teachers are just trying their best to teach their subject. That's like porn in the library. It's just a political talking point that has little to do with reality.
I would be really, really, really surprised if any of this gals teachers had any kind of impact on her and probably didn't have much of a chance. These kids get their motivation from their family and friends and a lot of time social media
But I doubt anything would convince you otherwise.
I almost didn't respond to this….
But two thoughts.
First, there is very little of what you think goes on actually affecting students. It's like porn in the library. Should it be there? No. Does it affect more than maybe a few kids, of course not. Most kids don't go in the library. Same with teachers. Are there teachers out there that spend all day trying to indoctrinate these kids…. Maybe a few. And they shouldn't be there. But teachers around me, and you, have almost zero one on one interaction with kids and are generally trying to get them to pass STARR or whatever test it is. The idea that there is widespread indoctrination of any kind of students in schools is laughable. At least where we live. I'm sure there was one somewhere that caused a big stir. But it limited at best.
Second, it's funny, or maybe sad, that parents think there is evil porn in libraries, indoctrination commie gay loving teachers around every corner, and whatever fear that has been spread while showing no concern at all with the cell phone and social media they provide them.
Social media has FAR, FAR, FAR more negative influence over these kids today than anything teachers or librarians or whoever could ever dream of. And parents don't think twice about it. Possibly the most ignorant thing I have ever witnessed in my life. But they will ***** about a teacher with a rainbow in the corner of their room.

Yes, that's indoctrination. Here's something for the campus profs -- EVERYONE in history earlier than about a century ago is DEAD. So belittling the past because they are dead just shows you are BRAIN-DEAD while still alive. You could have 30 degrees, and this will still be true.El Gallo Blanco said:My Sociology class back in 2000 or 2001 at A&M was pure indoctrination. Chinese female prof with accent refered to white historical figures as "dead white men" lol. I took a "Film" elective and the wacky hippie lookin prof had us watch "Birth of a Nation" pretty much to highlight how irreversibly racist our country is. If I was exposed to that in the early 2000's at a predominantly conservative school (at least in terms of student-body and donors), I can only imagine the absolute filth that Ivy League students and students at coastal public schools on the East and West coasts are constantly exposed to.titan said:That may be true of Secondary level, but imo probably can't make that defense as well for Ivy campuses. I have tremendous respect for the conservative students at these schools who hold their ground or go against the grain. Even if they remain silent due to being heavily outnumbered, I feel for them.

I know this is rare...but there is no denying that most libs/dems complained when governors like Desantis and Abbott had these gay p0rn books (that depicted oral sex and sodomy in playful cartoon illustrations) removed from elementary and middle school libraries. I don't even have a bunch of psycho devout leftists "friends" on social media...these are educated mid/upper class people who do very well for the most part...and i remember numerous dems on my feed comparing Desantis to Hitler for removing "Gender Queer" from these libraries.
THAT is the troubling part to me...that so many people, all concentrated on one political side, are fine with this deviancy. Along the same lines, FL basically said, you cannot proselytize to children 8 yrs of age and under behind their parents back with the trans/LGBTQ stuff, and this was universally condemned by the left...they labeled it the "don't say gay" bill.
I remember freaking out thinking the world was going to end in elementary school in the late 80's and early 90's...as they were preaching that we were ripping the ozone layer open by using hairspray and that 1 in 4 high school students would have AIDS by the year 2000. If they were hitting us with fear-driven propaganda back then, it's hard for me to believe they have seen the err of their ways and scaled that back. I plan to be heavily involved in my daughter's schooling regardless.
There are numerous reasons these "common sense gun control laws" aren't passed.Travelag08 said:

To be clear growing up in California or Hawaii has always been different than TX. This is not new.

I've never been full bore anti-vax (I was certainly anti-clot shot), but something is going on with these kids these days. "how do I reach these keeeeeeds?"

Nah. That's not it. I mean that's a problem but that's not the primary reason. The behavioral breakdown is across the board, not just welfare kids.
I'm convinced it is social media and what it is doing to their attention spans.

Yep. All most of these kids have ever experienced has been being raised either solely by their mom or by and aunt or grandmother, no father in the home, probably a stream of other baby daddies entertaining the mom long enough to breed her up and then leave, move on to the next one. Another sibling.KerrAg76 said:

I have a nephew that is the youngest of four, his next oldest is 10 years older than him (and he was conceived on purpose, not an oops). His mom likes to coddle him and keeps saying that since he is her last one she just wishes he could keep being a baby.
Until he started kindergarten, he had little contact with other kids his age and would still go hide in a corner to poop his pants and then laugh about it. Since he has had little discipline and is often ignored, he will act out, throw tantrums, throw objects and scream until he gets his way. His mom thought he wasn't behaving normally so she had him evaluated for Autism and the result came back that he was on the "high end" of the possible spectrum, meaning that if he was truly autistic, he would be a 1 but he tested a 9.9 so essentially, he just needed discipline and schedule.
Fast forward a few months since he started school and shockingly, he has quit crapping his pants, is throwing fewer tantrums, is asking to go to bed rather just cuddle on the couch until he finally passes out. He still has some behavioral issues because of the way his parents have raised him but he really doesn't behave like a kid on "the spectrum" even though his mom throws out the "A" card every time someone calls her out on his behavior, it's mainly because she had been a (horse excrement) mom.
It only took a couple of months of schedule and discipline from the school system to show some improvement, I call it good for the teachers on this front, I just hope the next set of teachers doesn't start with some of the other crap that has been discussed on this thread.
TLDR: It starts with the parents first, they need to teach their kids values and discipline and not just rely on the teachers to do so and then complain if the kids turn out to be wackos.
I mean, that tracks. Growing up in the 90s and early aughts, there was a massive campaign into how to deal with rejecting peer pressure, specifically targeting things like premarital sex, drugs, alcohol, and gang violence.AGinHI said:Psychologists Jonathan Haidt and Jean Twenge have done a lot of work in this area to confirm your suspicions about the harmfulness of social media. Don't kid yourself, or do, but it's happening in Texas at the elementary level and has been for some time. It may not have been as blatant, but it was happening 20 years ago, and still is.agsalaska said:

I invite anyone to spend one day at a high school with no cell phone policy to witness the total devastation the social media sights are causing. It is beyond sickening.Quote:
But also think beyond that. What kind of psychological devastation could you do to a populace or culture if you could infect them with some sort of cultural rot that manipulates what you see, what you hear, what you think is popular. It's not really a conspiracy theory about what Tik-Tok nowadays. It's a psyop to infect our culture and identity as a nation and brainwash our youth. What age demo do you think those "brave" dancing nurse tik toks during covid were really targeting? They were brainwashing the young kids who were at statistically zero risk of this cold virus from being terrified of it, or maybe lesser, being "brave" themselves by supporting the lockdowns to protect this brave YAS QUEEN nurses. Who do you think put out all of those videos of Chinese people falling dead in the streets, streets being blasted by people in hazmat suits, and piles of body bags outside of hospitals...and why?
