Collins makes total sense in Maine, but its never made any sense why Alaska can't produce someone closer to the state's bent.

Total wench. It sucks ranked choice voting survived the recount etc. in Alaska. I hope she goes away in 2 years, but won't matter as Trump's second term success will be determined by the next 18 months.

What republican politicians need to realize is that there is a price to pay for having the R next to your name. And it's time to pay the piper.

I'm sick of Republicans that are more worried about upsetting Democrats than they are working with Republicans. Same thing here in the Texas House.

If you're going to run as a Republican, you better support the agenda or you should get primaried. No more RINO traitors.

Republicans can't govern. The last time in 2017 when republicans controlled congress and the whitehouse, we passed the democrats omnibus bill.

They better learn from past mistakes and get it right this time. If they miss again they may not get another opportunity like this for a decade or more, if ever.

Murkowski's entire corrupt family has been steeped deeply in Alaskan politics for decades. Her daddy appointed her to his seat when he decided to run for governor. Daddy claims to be a republican but he's really an old school California Liberal

Well unfortunately the votes aren't there and the Senate is controlled by the RINOs. It also hurts that we have thrown away so many winnable Senate races in the last few years. It's going to take very shrewd work by Trump to have success to go with a strong approval rating. I think the best course of action is if he prioritizes the most important legislation and works through EO's, he has very little time before he will effectively become a lame duck.

I love that he seems to be taking the urgency to heart so far and is basically acting as President now. That's what he will need to do to succeed. With Thune as Majority Leader and McConnell in charge of Rules though to go with a razor thin House Majority the margin for error is really small. Simply can't spend time chasing things that will take too long and are unlikely to pass, have to get early wins and build on them.

Could not agree more. Hit day one running and leverage early wins to pressure legislators to get on board. That and ignore the wailing and gnashing of teeth from media know nothings.

They shouldn't get any more opportunities if they "miss" this time. It would be more than past time to form a national party that is a true counter to the Left Regressive. Even now, they should be put on notice - no repeat of 2017-2018 lukewarm and gruding support, let alone undermining, of the first months of the admin.

If you're projecting yourself as a "no labels" congressman, then you need to run as an independent candidate. Good luck without any major party funding.

If you imagine her as the family (inherited name) version of Dade Phalen it makes more sense. Mitt Romney or John McCain would be more respectable. Vile people.

I'm guessing historically it was due to a high percentage of the people living in Alaska being young men working a job for 1-5 years and who never voted.

Tons of Alaskans are on the government dole. It's shocking how many people in villages don't really work. Those people vote Democrat all day, every day.

Ohhhh...now it starts to make sense. Didn't realize that. Along with what Nortex said about the Romney or Arizona clique comparisons. Between those it starts to come together.

I'm not sure the Senate will ever be rid of Murkowski. She has won on a write-in campaign and ranked choice was done specifically for her. It too will be around for a few more years at least.

She seems to be bullet-proof and acts like it.

Do you understand they get a portion of the O&G royalties? That's not exactly being on the dole. The oil and gas royalties are distributed, just like when one lives in Texas and has property in a pool. Only it is statewide.

I am well aware, and that has nothing to do with that I am talking about. Much of Alaska is essentially an Indian reservation. I go to Alaska every summer and work with people in villages. The vast majority of them are Eskimo (native Alaskan). The amount of government money spent in tiny villages would astound you.

One village I spend a lot of time in is less than 200 people, and they received ~$8MM in covid funds. Those people are not voting Republican.

Hth.

This I hope is a legacy of Trump - the the GOP weed out the Rino's and those who aren't going to govern as true conservatives and have a set of balls.
