MAGA guy here again.
I love Trump.
I love DeSantis.
Either one would have been fine with me.
I just wanted someone who would work on breaking up the swamp. Big job. Either one, I believe, would work on that. In my opinion, Trump had a clearer picture of what we are up against. He has lived it.
Going forward with Vance in the picture now….he's most likely to carry the torch in 2028.
When we talk about a female positioning herself for after Vance…Huckabee is the clear choice at this stage.
DeSantis is still young. I'd love to see him in the WH someday.
Let's just get back to sane governance and dismantle the rogue deep state. They've clearly been working against the wishes of the American people.

What does the Venn diagram look like that shows the overlap of those who says she has no chance with those who in 2023 gave DJT no chance in 2024?

She's talented, but not that talented. Let her stay head of the RNC where she made a very tangible difference.

Can't help but wonder if Ronna Romney McDaniel sucked at her job as RNC head…or performed brilliantly according to the GOPe stooges that put her there.

And, yeah, Trump spoke well of her at a certain point.

But he also seems to have learned his lesson that the Swamp, smilingly, already had their daggers unsheathed and behind their backs upon his arrival in 2017.

That lesson is the difference between Pam Bondi and Jeff Sessions. The difference between Kash Patel and Chris Wray.

A lot can happen between now and then... but IF Trump's next 4 years are a success (if people feel like they are better off)... I'm pretty sure Vance will be the next guy up.

He will be well spoken, articulate, and will promise to keep the Trump policies going.

Which one? I mean is is Don Jr? Lara? Do we go for the Amendment change and just go to Barron?

It sure as hell isn't going on merit, seems like the last name is the main qualifier. Yet saying so means I have TDS apparently.

If she is picked to replace Rubio in the senate (very high probability) then she will run in 2028 and become the first female President of the USA.

She checks all the boxes and unlike Kamala, a strong communicator. She graduated cum laude with a degree in communications. Had been very successful at all her endeavors and is the DIL of 47.

She is 5'11" in height, smart, loyal to her FIL, and a lot of energy. Her. Only shortfall is IMO too much plastic to the face.

Take a look at her current credentials and ask yourself, if MAGA wants to continue the Trump brand, who fits better than this lady? All bets are off if Trump flounders in his 2nd term.

I suspect her running mate will be a seasoned politician, maybe even Rubio.

I'm not sure which one. But what makes the qualifications to be President? Having many years in DC or in many year in political office is not really the answer or likeable as it once was.

What qualifications did Obama have before he became President?

This is all a moot point if DeSantis doesn't pick Lara Trump. The question is why would he? No DeSantis worshipper will answer that question, instead they just bark like a dog.

I am not the only one here that can see where this Lara Trump thing is heading, some here see this coming claiming she would make a good VP or her time will come after Vance, and no, we are not worshipping Trump. The only one I worship is Jesus.

If Trump cleans up the mess we are in, brings peace and a strong economy, then endorses someone to continue his policy…what should we do? Ignore the endorsement?

If Trump sucks it won't matter. Democrats will be back in power.

Exactly. And look how his term(s) turned out for America.
That is the point people are making that qualifications should be heavily factored.

Yes, if he endorses someone that does not have strong qualifications. You are essentially advocating for an empire instead of a constitutional republic.

Even if he endorses someone like DeSantis with strong qualifications, the people should not feel compelled to do the bidding of what Trump says, though his endorsement after a supposed successful second term should carry some weight when considering candidates.

I didn't think he was qualified to be President. So I didn't vote for him.

I don't see a reason DeSantis should pick her without looking at other candidates. The state AG? Longtime US house members?

She's pretty. But pretty is not enough.
What is her opinion on Ukraine? Abortion? Vaccines? Homeschooling? Saving SS and Medicare?

And if Trump thinks she is more qualified than his VP, we are ****ed as a country.

A serious response for you.

Endorsements mean very little to me. We've seen over and over and over again, on both sides of the party, that endorsements are often simply the result of one of two things:

1) party insiders sticking together, or

2) returning the favor for their allegiance.

Neither of those makes the endorsed candidate qualified to hold office. And yes, Trump is guilty of Number 2 above. We see it in his cabinet appointments.

So even if Trump's second term is wildly successful, I still wouldn't just blindly accept whoever he endorses in '28.

I simply want '28 to be an open primary contest, preferably without any influence from Trump. If Vance is the best candidate with the best policies and chances to beat the Dems, then fantastic. If its a junior Trump, then great. But let's stop annointing people as the next option we should turn to just because of their name. That's no better than the Kennedys or Clintons or Bushes. Let the best candidates rise to the top based in their merits, not their names.

Qualifications have to matter. 99.9999% of people that are really good at something should never be president. Whether it is temperament, ability to work with people, ideology, etc, there are a multitude of disqualifiers for the Presidency that have nothing to do with if someone is qualified for something else or even whether or not they are a good person. Being President, and more importantly - doing the right thing as President, is something that almost no one is qualified for.

What drives me crazy is the justification we use for bad choices that hinge on what the left uses for their candidates. Just because the left makes horribad decisions, we decide we can use the same methodology for choosing candidates, and it's turned the federal government into what it is.

I have no idea what PA24 is actually trying to accomplish with this thread, but him dragging DeSantis into this makes no difference to the point that Lara Trump would have 0 discussion about being president in 4 years if her last name wasn't Trump. Doing 1 thing well once doesn't translate to being qualified for being selected as Senator (not elected), much less being discussed as President.

I would think Vance would bring Trump along as VP. Then, assuming he wins and 8 years it, she's up next.

If Vance doesn't win, I could see her running in 2032 for President.

Regardless of who his choice of running mate might be...think about J.D. Vance walking into his first day on the job as VP and also probably having to start the preliminaries on his own run for the top job because Trump only has the one term left.

Speculating about 2028 is not of much point. Especially with the near own-goal made by the House.

Focus needs to be on getting the first midterm correct, and not blowing it. To even think a Republican wins in 2028 is to pre-suppose the GOP-E doesn't blow the present opportunity. They are going to need close watch on the ball to avoid doing so.

I do know that Lara has two children under the age of six and she does not believe in having her children raised by nanny's full-time.

With so much time being spent in Washington DC alone, and her husband Eric spending much of his time in New York City, running the Trump organization and their residence in Jupiter, Florida. The logistics and the dynamics of where her family is at this time probably played a major decision if indeed she is truly taking herself out of consideration.

Disappointed, wonder who he picks.
But, one thing is clear: there can be little debate that, among other things, the President's pressure exerted on Vice President Pence to violate his oath, and the false hope it sent to emotionally charged supporters, was wrong, troubling, and impeachable.
